Well the entire point of stuff like Denuvo (and the DRM it sits on top of) is to delay piracy, not stop it. Every day that passes is a day the person who'd normally just download a crack of a game has to push aside any desire to buy said game in order to play it while it's fresh and actively discussed.
Not saying this is a good thing to do, but that's the aim. If it works is anyone's guess.

Piracy isn't dead, it's just changed. MGSV and BAK were both cracked with the same exploit. Denuvo is to be treated like a security system. You don't just burn your exploits, you hoard them, and never release one to the public to burn without having another in reserve.
Imagine if there was an exploit and they used it on Far Cry Primal? Then they couldn't use it on Doom because it would be patched. What a waste that would be. Instead, wait for a lot of Denuvo games to come out (10 or so) then release the exploit for all of them. It gets patched, but you got 10 games out of it instead of 1. This is why 3DM is taking a break.

as much as i like to play free games, this is good for the PC market
because devs will release better ports, seeing that the PC market is viable
but to be fair, who wants to pirate in this day and age
i have 900 games on steam (literally) and i think i spent about 60e in total....
the PC market pricing is competitive as fuck, and i know that i will buy doom for 10-12 bucks in a year or so
