D44M is absolutely the best game that's going to be out this year, though.
D44M gives me the same feelings that Doom 1 and 2 did, but that's just it. I feel the same rush, panic, and adrenaline when I play D44M that I did back then. It's the first game to actually pull that off.
The mechanics have been modernized, yes. Hell, jumping in Doom 1 and 2 wasn't even a thing, and technically speaking, even though it was a 3D game, everything was rendered in 2D. (Your PC back then would treat each frame as a 2D image and would just scale each pixel in that 2D image based on "Distance" from the object.)
But... they've somehow pulled off giving me something that I haven't had since I was 12 years old.
Doom has changed, but the feelings you get from playing D44M are the exact feelings you'd get if you were to play Doom 1 in 1993.

Name one that could be better that isn't pure multiplayer. (I'm putting that restriction in because I know you're going to say overwatch. Overwatch IS fun, but D44M is objectively better.)
