On one hand I'm disappointed there wasn't a supernatural twist, but on the other if it followed the exact same formula as 1-3 I would have been equally disappointed.
I wish there had been a supernatural aspect, but not "oh no this treasure is actually something terrible which caused the downfall of the city".
Throughout the game there was loads of references to the inevitability of death and "time consumes all things", and I was honestly expecting immortal pirate skeletons.

It's called technique, which the brothers Drake clearly lack.
The only time Nathan had the upper hand was when he pulled the best surprise attack of all time and punched her through the floor, because Nathan's only strength in hand-to-hand is surprising the enemy.
His melee controls and animations have always been clunky and amateurish, often accompanied with a firearm as a blunt weapon, and he's always getting countered and grappled. There's no reason to believe he could ever challenge anyone who's actually been trained with just his fists.

being in full control during the scene and implementing the new gameplay features of driving cars and the rope hook.

What was with the difficulty spike in the last couple of chapters?
Most of the game was far easier than previous in the series, but there's a few sequences late on that felt like banging my head against a wall.
The elevator fight was tough, but then you hit the start of chapter 20 and I wanted to kill someone. Fucking ridiculous, took me at least an hour.
Also the exploding mummies in chapter 19 can fuck right off. Was this game even tested on crushing?

Then I played 4 and there are references and the game even at one point asks you what game was your favourite but its mostly contained within itself and the multiplayer is decent.
