You can solve a murder in the first kotor.
I'm also playing a hentai visual novel kara no Shojou now which also revolves around you solving several brutal murders.
I'm sure there's more but i just cant remember them now, which probably speaks to their quality

If you're into super complex detective work and playing as the true Sherlock Holmes, yes.
If you're hoping to play as movie Holmes and run around beating up baddies, no.
