Gotcha
PC Doom with beeing Shareware made it the 3rd best selling game of all the time + It was so popular it was banned from some universitys simply because people brought down the whole network with playing online back in the day

This is really what gets to me
God, I hate people who get riled up in an argument online and screenshot it to post everywhere, begging for self validation. Fuck off OP, no-one cares.
Nice job hiding the names

>not many people were PC gamers back then
How old is this guy, 13? Jesus christ, I can tell you from firsthand experience being old as fuck that this was not the case at all
Doom was literally one of the games that made PC gaming so big IMO. It was around the time that everyone was buying a computer for their house, like a family one or otherwise, and here was this great game for PC that pretty much everyone played on it.

kill yourself cretin
I'm 30. First hand experience was my older cousin who had a PC that seemed like future tech luxury that we would never have. We had played pc games on floppy discs and shit before. But once Wolfenstein came out I could not wait to visit them every weekend. Then Doom came out and we lost our shit. No one I know ever played snes version. Doom was something people talked about at lunch or on the playground and it was always someones cousin or older brother or father or whomever that had it.

Doom was originally on printers and ATMs. It wasn't ported to PC until years later.

1992-1994 was a great time for PC games.

Being blunt, DOOM was played entirely with the keyboard for a long time. In that sense, a console had no advantage.
But then Quake came out, and people realised their "press LMB on icon" device worked perfectly fine as a "press LMB on enemy" device, and consoles STILL haven't put a fucking trackball on their controller for some reason.
