The melee system is absolutely fucking awful and I'm not just talking about the glory kills, melees have lunge and you end up overshooting the target half the time and it doesn't help that there's a lack of visual and audio feedback when meleeing. It's like hitting air whenever you use it and it's fucking awful. Also whenever you melee an enemy next to a stunned enemy you end up just end up getting the stunned enemey even if you weren't aiming for them, it's terrible

I still play doom this very day on zandronum and I can say very firmly that doom is even better then it first came out due to the endless content spawned by being an open source game. Doom 4 will be forgotten in 6 months. While Doom which came out in 1993 is still relevant today.

Listen, I used to play Doom a lot, but the gameplay is kinda shit today. The fact that there is no vertical aim removes several layers to aiming, I just can't go back to this, it just feels archaic and doesn't offers anything more than what we have today.

Necause as you go further, the enemy count increases considerably and you're swarmed with enemies, the challenges then revolves more around movement and managing which weapon to use for which kind of enemies.

if you have low health, any enemy you kill will drop health pickups (lower health=more pickups)
glory kills increase these drops by a lot, later on you can upgrade them to drop armor too
