Imperius tries to absorb Azmodan in an attempt to weaken hell and become much more powerful in the battle against it, however this backfires and instead Azmodan kicks Imperius out of his body taking full control over it in the process, during the events of Diablo 4 Azmodan has settled in to his new life staying an angel and fighting off his former siblings.
This isn't a plot point and it's barely mentioned other than there now being an angel named Azmodan

Ive started playing D3 again recently and the reaper of souls expansion is pretty nice, the story is more grim at it was fun playing through the new act. Adventure mode is fucking amazing, Gives you a reason to keep playing although when you get the best gear and so on it become stale.
People who are hating on D3 probably havent tried adventure mode cus vanilla D3 was pure trash.
In D4 Blizz should change the artstyle back to how dark and grim it was in D2, but from what i saw in the extra act of the expansion im pretty sure Blizz is already aware of that as the story and atmosphere were darker but still hindered by their artstyle choice for vanilla D3.
They should probably stir the game more in the mmo direction like adventure mode and give us a reason to keep playing when we have the best stuff.
