Thanks to the overly simplified economy and empire management there is nothing else to do in the game but build battleships with your infinite resources and declare war on everything because there are no other ways to interact with other empires.

Only reason I can think of is that you might have some ships in your fleet that would benefit more from one General perk over another (e.g. more speed over better evasion), so you would split them up based on their purpose. That and hitting multiple targets simultaneously.

Played it for 2 days no stop, enjoyed it at the beginning but it got boring after a bunch of playthrough:

-Diplomacy isn't good and most of the time it just fucks with you
-The missions, anomalies are generally always the same
-sometimes is unfair and because certain elements of the game are RNG you may end up next up to a Fallen Empire which will steamroll you if you commit to certain technologies or do specific actions.
-same for the technologies, you also have to be lucky to pick the one you want
-the interface is lackluster and could use some small helping features like the ability to favorite a solar system or a planet, could happen that you start terraforming a planet and you forget because the notification doesnt pop up and you forget which planet it is
-bugs in the interface

i liked it, not as much as CK2 but i still enjoyed it, it needs some bug fixing and some improvement to the GUI.

That's why the rest of us do it properly by using multiple large ships with good weapons. That way we exterminate populations very quickly.

I seriously don't know how to make this simpler for you. Maybe have your caregiver or special ed teacher explain it for you using crayon-drawn diagrams. If that fails, you could try giving back the extra chromosome.

I mean, this could not be any simpler. You obviously don't understand the game. Le me break it down for you because you're the dumbest motherfucker to ever shit up this planet.

If you use Light Bombardment, you have 0% chance of killing a pop with every day of bombardment.
If you use Medium Bombardment, you have a 10% of killing a pop with every day of bombardment.
If you use Heavy Bombardment, you have 50% chance of killing a pop with every day of bombardment.

That means you can wipe out whole planetary populations from space. I've done. At least one other guy in this thread has done it. People in multiplayer games have even done it to me.

Not sure which year you start in, but the guys I went up against didn't stand a chance so it's probably fine for now.
Got it up to 1.7k instantly, but didn't have enough max number of fleets to keep that going to I had to destroy corvettes until I was down to 1.2k

The game is actually really cool. Although it is somewhat of a grind fest near the beginning of the game and that you will either struggle with influence loss from frontier outposts and wait years for a tech to develop near mid-game, the game is still actually really cool.

A word of advice though : Don't piss off the Fallen Empires. They'll contact you when they see you. You don't want those pieces of shits angry at you, since they are immensely better than you at everything when you first meet one. Read their attitudes to see what you need NOT to do so that you don't piss them off. For example, a knowledge guardian attitude will be pissed off if you research techs shown in red AKA dangerous techs.

My personal pros and cons

Pros

>territory system
>actual government options in a fucking 4x game finally
>in-depth population who each have their own beliefs and ideal governments
>population can be controlled, moved around, enslaved, purged, liberated
>can also let it happen naturally with immigration, migration, and emigration
>multiple species on a planet thanks to the in-depth population system instead of just taking a planet and having some happiness hit for a couple of turns, then never having to think about being a foreign occupier again
>diplomacy system where you have to study other species to figure out how to communicate with them
>multi facet research system
>multi government and ethos options plus traits for species
>edicts and policies allow further customization of governments
>non permanent leaders

Cons

This is a partial list because I can't think of everything right now but it's a breath of fresh air. Most 4x games feel one step away from being board games, with hardly any depth. Civ for example makes me wonder why it's even about civilizations when there is no culture to worry about anymore, and the population is barely something you have to worry about outside of strictly making them happy.

I think it's a promising game. Making your own species and empire is fun, and the population and government mechanics are good and interesting. It's extremely obvious what they're going to expand on in later DLC, though. Diplomacy is worse than Civ 5.

There is no excuse no matter your ethos to play below your maximum possible fleet pop. If you ever have more resources than you need to build something then you should have built it already or you aren't rushing colonies fast enough.

I usually have a fallen empire down and their tech reverse engineered before the extinction events begin. I feel like the game should punish my mistakes far more than it does at this point.

It's a solid 10 + hours enjoyable experience for 1 - 2 play-troughs, then quit and wait for next dlc - then play 10 more hours, then quit and play 10 more hours with never dlc and so on - it's not a game to play everyday.

Alright, full story: I took some worlds from an enemy empire in a defensive war. Wanted access, etc.

I get some worlds of theirs, and two of them are populated by 'pre-sentients', no ability to control or build or relocate even when they aren't in a sector. In both cases I get -"Whoa, it looks like someone previously started uplifting these guys, maybe we'll be able to finish what whoever started" events.

But there doesn't seem to be any option to actually do that. Can't build observation posts (the world is colonized?) and don't seem to have any kind of options.

I just have a planet populated by presentients. as far as I can tell, I bombarded the previous owners stupid.

Is there any downside to play Xenophile, aside from Ooga booga, where da white women at shitposting?
Currently I have 3 different species living in my empire supporting my Jihadi space sharks by colonizing planets my people can not.

How the fuck do I pull this one off boys? They've taken two of my core worlds, and I can't crack their Grand Fleet because they deal out so much goddamn damage, their largest fleet does about 11K. My vassal got his fleet eviscerated, he's accompanying me with a 1-2K fleet. I finally got 3 BShips, with a few more on the way when I can scrounge some credits. I've refit my fleet for max shield pen, since most of their ships are one-two shields, and the rest is energy cores.

It doesn't like you can rope in other empires while in a war. Is it best just to turtle my navies, or should I just do hit and runs until I can afford a white peace?

The beggining of the game plays like a 4X game. The Explore and Expand phase are extremely fun and engaging. Then midgame rolls around and it slows down a fuck ton.

Worth a Pirate for now. Like most Paradox games, it needs a lot of work, but has a lot of *potential*, but right now only the first half/third of the game is outstanding.

Upgrade your ships to whatever weapon they are weakest against. If they use missiles then build some corvettes with only point defense turrets, they'll shoot down any missile in range.

Xenophobe gets a building for basically no cost that gives 10% happiness. It's way, way better than Xenophile since you can just embassy the people you don't want to fight, regardless of your ethos. As well as purging undesirables.
