I gotta go with Link's Awakening as well. It feels just condensed enough so that the world feels packed and full of things to poke and discover, but without feeling like a tiny island either. All it needs is a better item management system and it can be amazing.

Zelda 2 is actually super awesome. And yeah it also reminds me of Dark Souls quite a bit. The only thing I truly hate is the XP system. It just means that you have to grind to get past certain parts.
