I'd be more inclined to try new games if they were packaged in a similar format to old ps1/ps2/xbox demo discs.

What happened?

How could they make this happen in a world where most people download their games?

They should make it a compilation of demos with an intro theme, some trailers etc and make the download files smaller maybe. There was something about old demo discs that felt like a whole experience (the music, trippy graphics and spooky new games i never heard about).

big corporate fatcats realised people don't buy shitty games if you give them a chance to try them and decide they're shit so they stopped with demos.

why

>>337563358
They don't want you to know how shitty their games are.

You really think that's the reason? I mean there are downloadable demos but people rarely play them

oh shit
>>
>>337563358
I dont think demo discs are cost effective now, plus they would have to be multi layered dvd's or bluray where sp1's were cd-rom's
also the reason we needed demo discs were the lack of marketing for games. only people who bought the magazines really got the demos (or got lent them etc) it was the only way they could market games.
now we have mainstream internet and demos in a section on the online store.
just moved with the times

If they released demos now you would see how shit the games are before buying them.

This.

We do have demos, they are open betas. But you can't complain about things wrong with a beta, as compared to a demo, since it's
>just a beta they will fix it
>>

Demo discs had betas too

The segments you played worked, though

>tfw I played the demo of "Rune Classic" (pc) from a ~500MB file or something before deciding to by the full game on GoG
