Well, the figures look nothing like the actual movie characters.
Not sure if that contributed to them being unpopular, but it probably didnt help either.
The gameplay was probably shit too. Maybe I'm just too old to see the appeal, but Skylanders / Lego Universe, Disney Infinity all just looks like one big mario party minigame where you run around collecting coins, and it's literally impossible to die.
Lego Dimensions is next
A studio with shit video game experience, jumps onto an over saturated market with nothing new and innovative, and crashes.

Any time I ever played a disney game, I got the impression that the creators never played a video game in their lives, and got all their information about what video games are by watching people play them on TV show sitcoms.

I got the impression that their beancounters made a shitload of growth predictions, and when the toys to life market flattened out it scewd all of that and they decided to drop it for underperforming.
It might have well been profitable, but, muh growth.
Stores were trying to get rid of 2.0 stock months before 3.0 even came out. You think there's a lot of Amiibos, but the Infinity figures dwarf their amount easily.
Doesn't help that 99 percent of 3.0 figures in all the stores around here were the new Star Wars movie ones and little of anything else.
