That is also standard business practice, it's called ban waves. When a developer detects a vulnerability on a cheat they let the cheaters play freely for a set period of time to try to catch as many as they can and then they ban them all at once.

Not good if Diablo 3, Diablo 2, Starcraft, Warcraft III and Starcraft II are any indication. All are rife with cheating. WoW is also full of bots.
They deal with them but the reality is you can only stay so many steps ahead of the people who make these things and the people who make them will continue to do so because people pay them too. If they stop, a different person will decide they can make money from it.
The only way to prevent cheating is to handle as much of a game server side as you can but for many games that's not an option and also locks them onto online only without more work being done.
And a good thing that is.
Every 2 months, the LMAObox gets and update, and you don't even need to check the site.
Just hop on any server because 20% of them now feature someone with perfect tracking of airborn targets and "private profiles" reaping the newbiew achievements.
Then it's a wave of bans for two weeks, and everything is nice and quite.
For one and a half months.
Still, I think I'll miss cheaters.

Yup. Or even worse, in Bastion's case it's not even that you have to use him right. You need the enemy team to be stupid. You need them to be the kind of person who just runs around the same corner they just died at thinking it would be different this time somehow.
Characters like Bastion that punish bad players harshly are always considered OP by the retards they punish. I love listening to people justify why a character is OP but they still can't do well as them, it's always so bull shit.

I've come to love him for his Recon mode.
When the enemy team is stupid, yeah. Just turret and mow down retards.
But if they're actually good, you can pull some mental games.

With luck you'll see a widdow searching for you on your previous position. She'll say "he's gone" and another spastic retards comes hugging your barrels.
Granted, you rarely get kills on Recon mode, but you wear them down, and if your team ain't half bad, a guy at 50% health is easy pickings for them.

Try using Junkrat or Pharah. They counter him a lot better in my opinion. Genji, Hanzo and Widomaker do too though.
The only time Junkrat and Pharah have a lot of trouble with him is when it's an inside point (like point B on Hanamura) otherwise just keep flying/jumping in different positions spamming explosives. If you don't kill him you'll force him to get up and move which is almost as good as it means your team can finally do something about Bastion's team.
Even on a map like hanamura, learn to bounce Junkrat grenades and you can melt him without even making eye contact unless he picked a REALLY good spot.

See this is how he is intended to be played and it's pretty sad we'll never see him get any better since he actually needs buffs (or frankly a rework I hate his healing ability and ult, so boring and don't mesh with his main gimmick) compared to Hanzo, Junkrat, Widowmaker and Mei who are all better defense heroes.
Bastion has one of the worst pick rates in tournaments, which are young, but are still pretty telling.

Honestly if anything this is frustrating news, they are doing what they've done with all their past games which is they are never going to comment on when and how many cheaters they are banning which many games do do. But it is that easy anon. I had over a 60 percent win rate in the beta. This game is a really simple game of countering hero picks, most people refuse to do this and play the same character all match. Don't be one of these people and it will become that easy. I also suggest makign sure you know every nook and cranny of every map. Where what health packs are, what walls you can bounce grenades off of to get them into an objective, what walls/building can be flown/jumped over and which can be landed on. Where the choke points are and how to get past them with heroes unique movement options, ect.
Almost everything else comes down to team play and cooperation.
The character design is decent but the game become boring as fuck after just a couple games. It's like Blizzard have completely forgotten how to make engaging and meaningful gameplay. Utter shit.

I was literally banned from WoW about 5 months ago for being good at PvP. Everyone would report me for scripting after a rated battleground.
After calling Blizzard about 10 times I finally spoke to a guy who would give me more than the "we dont discuss ban details" bullshit, and he was adamant that I was cheating because I said "yeah got the bot on" in the raid chat before the game started.
