The weapon balancing and revenants feel off. The chaingun is crazy powerful and revenants, especially some people who are very advanced in the game, have baron revenants that allow them to wreck an entire team. It makes no sense.

It's pretty good.
The best thing about it shows just how far video games have fallen in terms of gameplay. While it's not amazing, hopefully it will show some developers that fast paced insane action is the way to go, instead of cinematic experiences.

I grew up on the original Doom and loved those games but let's be honest if they made a game where you only have to worry about aiming left and right we'd bitch about that.
It's fast still, granted not holding down shift and killing shit in the original Dooms fast but it's still fast.
Same formula over all with finding key cards and opening doors to get somewhere.
I do wish they had stayed away from those demon shrine things, I miss the old open a door and catch a face load of shit from a ton of demons, now you know it's coming and it kills those "oh fuck!" moments.
I also like the small references to how badass doom guy is. They have shit that kills normal humans like the bezerk buff but doomguy just rolls with.
The weapon mods are also pretty neat, they offer different solutions for different situations.
It's not amazing and revolutionary like Doom was when it first came out but it's kept me entertained and it's more fun than the other fps that are being peddled

So I'm 29 and grew up with Doom/Doom 2 as my intro to PC gaming as a child.
It kept some of the same spirit of the originals, but has been modernized a little too much. I like that there is no health regen, the same style of powerups to be picked up, and it encourages you to go balls out from the start. I don't like the emphasis on the "execution" style kills for health that the game appears to be balanced around because one of the devs apparently thought brutal doom was a good thing. It wasn't.
I like the nods to the old games (Doom 3 doesn't count to me), but it feels like it's meant for teenagers and less for people who grew up with the older games. Not enough labyrinths in the first 2 missions, too much locked-in arena fight type things (yes I know that's from the original as well, but it's done differently here), and I couldn't find a match on multiplayer when I tried for 5 minutes just to try it out.
I'm debating on refunding it. How many levels are there in total? Convince me to keep it or not. I feel like it'd be worth it at 40$ or so, but I am not sure I can see spending 60$ on this despite how well it runs, how polished it is, etc. It feels like Doom 3 more than Doom1/2, and that isn't a good thing to me.
