The problem with ammo types is that guns don't remember the ammo type they've been loaded with if you switch them or load a save. That's atrocious, there's nothing like loading a save and having to switch your All-American from basic 5.56 rounds which you picked from a Fiend to 5.56 match. HOWEVER, I've recently discovered that if you assign a gun to a number, it will remember its ammo type. Which is amazing.
I never noticed how much time I spent looking at that compass.
