Casuals don't play games as often as you might think and they're definitely not the driving force for the industry. They buy one or two games a year maybe then they never play them. If they do buy games they're sports games or maybe the latest CoD but seeing the massive dislikes on the new trailer it probably won't even be that.
If you want to make money from video games you have to appeal to a niche and keep milking them.
Besides that I payed for games for years and I still saw the massive casualization of the industry. I pirate now to make sure I'm not paying for a shit product because I've seen my favourite franchises spiral down the drain or become DLC fuckfests.
So no, I'll complain about the state of the industry all I want.
