Am I missing out? I have Gods & Kings, but not Brave New World.

"aye aye"

or whatever the builder units say everytime their turn comes up
>>
>>337455072

No, just stick to IV like all non casuals. Hell, if you've played too much IV and want something fresh then download III.
>>
>>337455072
Mods will fix the menus. Diplomacy is forever fucked though. The AI's are dumb in that respect, especially with peace treaties.

Also, RIP in peace Civ 5 thread. These never last long on /v/.
>>
IV is all you need if you play the right mods.
>>
bro i've been playing Civ seriously since the game came out and they are all the same shit.
the AI and diplomacy is bad in all of them and the units are maximum clunky in all of them.

the most amazing thing about Civ games is that they run on toasters. except for Civ V because who the fuck knows why.
>>
>>337455724
I've played 3 extensively but never 4
What am i missing other than religion

Obviously. America is scared as shit of those camel archers and those fuckers have double oil, so they get away with everything.

Also, Babylon got rushed and btfo early cuz it would have been a serious problem by now. Same with the Incas.
>>
>>337458090

>implying

a racially homogeneous society with petrodollars and no taxes with indian slaves taking care of your infrastructure leaving you with free healthcare and 3 month+ vacation time a year? yh sounds like a real shithole
>>
>>337455072
Nah you're not. V is... okay, but IV remains the best in the series by a good margin. By the looks of things VI might be even worse.
>>
>>337458247
Man, if only the Zulu weren't wiped out early. We'd be seeing some fun late game right now.
>>
>>337457980
In older civilizations, you usually made as many fucking cities as possible. Sometimes corruption or whatever similar mechanic would weaken them but the advantages of having tons of dense cities outweigh the costs

In civ 5 cities are supposed to be, well, actual cities, and not just population generators. They also made it viable to NOT have as many cities as possivle, whereas that was very difficult in previous games.

It's not that impressive to be wealthy when you run an oil cartel and get your dick sucked by the west even though you secretly support terrorists m8

All the oil money in the world doesn't mean much in a country where they still crucify people anyway

Extremely good multiplayer, everything that was annoying about Civ 3 removed such as corruption and waste, a ton of great ideas that make for a very balanced game(like the make-your-own-government Civics system), and a FUCKTON of cool mods.

The main advantage 3 has is more tactical combat. In 4, no ground units have ranged attacks. Which turns artillery into suicide units used to deal collateral damage to a stack of units before dying. Kind of weird but the combat still isn't bad.

I've been looking to get into Civ games for quite a while now, what does Civ IV have that makes it superior to Civ V? Or for that matter, what does Civ V lack that IV doesn't?

>I was like 11
>Ordering a spicy chicken pizza and a bottle of coca cola
>Got comfy by pulling up a lounge chair and quilt to family computer and playing all night
>Go to bed at like 6am before family wakes up
>Mother can't wake me up for school at 7am, speaks to doctor on phone and he recommends I stay home that day
>Wake up at lunch and play some more

Civ hasn't been that good at launch since Civ 3. Civ 4 with mods a year or so ago was great though. Civ 5 with lots of mods now is still average.

I have no hopes for Civ 6 seeing how they just abandoned Beyond Earth when no one bought the DLC

Civ IV has Rhye's and Fall as well as Caveman 2 Cosmos, which I'd argue are the two best mods ever made of the series, although Caveman 2 Cosmos requires a LOT of patience. It's honestly not all that great without the mods really.

Civ V is a lot of fun, but only with all of the expansions. In fact they're both kind of bad without the expansions, but Civ V is like playing a completely different, much shittier game without them.

I'd honestly recommend 5 over 4 at this point, a lot of 4 has aged pretty badly, even with the mods. I also don't consider good mods to mean a good game, so that could be some personal bias talking.

I like Civ5 complete more than Civ4 complete.
And even in naked vanilla the games are about the same quality tbqh.
And before you bring up MUH AI and MUH MULTIPLAYER ISSUES, Civ4 also had (and has) shit AI and multiplayer desyncs.

Out of my ass. From memory, they were 7-8 in Israel, 7-8 around the world. Can't be arsed to check.

Its okay lad, Russians are over a hundred million, yet like 50 million have died in wars in the last century. I am not trying to holorollercoaster you.
