Except I can't think of a PC game that looks as good as Uncharted. Of course there are plenty of games with insane texture resolutions, higher poly models etc. but if you look objectively at the whole graphics presentation of the game it is unparalleled.

C'mon OP, I like uncharted and that's bullshit.

It's as bland a TPS can be. I mean, uncharted is fun and all, but let's not pretend it's more than what it is.
>>
Gameplay is by far the worst part of Uncharted. Lots about 4 look nice but I'll only pay a fiver because it has that weird shit floaty jumping and platforming, plus the awful auto lock on shit. Gunplay is just trash too.

I don't know what the fuck you're talking about, there's no other TPS that's as quick and mobile as Uncharted. The controls are fantastic, being able to shoot no matter what you're doing feels great. The level design and AI makes the combat very fun for me. Swinging around and flanking the shit out of people is extremely satisfying

I seriously doubt that
Just like Uncharted and TLOU on ps3 this game has very long gorgeous looking cutscenes that then cut to a real time cutscene that looks much worse and will then seamlessly lead into gameplay
The cutscenes, as is usual for Naughty Dog, are prerendered in-engine with higher quality assets

Yeah i never get why people say gameplay is bad when it's pretty smooth. This is the same place the gets exited for the next Gears of War but then says Uncharted is Bland.

Do people realize how many TPS games don't let you run and gun or roll and take cover whenever you want? Uncharted is also the only popular game where you can climb and shoot at the same time which makes MP way more fun. There is also new stuff they added yet people call it bland.

Terrible, terrible example. It is the best looking game by a longshot, though. It's something that has to be played to be believed. PCucks will never understand the error of their ways.
>>
>>337449557
I haven't played it all the way through yet, but only one level has been a very light open world so far.
It was more like the highway level of Half-Life 2 though, you're driving through a wide route and can stop to explore small ruins on the way.

It was the best level so far, 70% of the game is cutscenes or barely interactive "gameplay", but I guess that's par for the course for the series
>>
>>337449836
Bro you can literally pause the game in the cutscenes at any time, fuck with the camera zoom, depth of field, camera filters, whatever.

There are literally only two video files that I know of, they're each so few seconds in length that you can count them on your fingers, and server only to let the next real-time cutscene load in behind them.

Actually, you're wrong.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-uncharted-4-thiefs-end-tech-analysis

>: One of the most profound shifts in the series over previous entries is the move to real-time cut-scenes. Previously, the complexity of the cinematics necessitated the use of pre-rendered video files. This helps conceal loading at points but also lightens the load on the hardware. Moving to real-time creates a more cohesive presentation, with the game now able to transition seamlessly between gameplay and cinematics. It also makes for a convincing tech demo as the visuals on display here are some of the most impressive we've seen to date

70% of the game is cutscenes or barely interactive "gameplay

That's not correct though. The game follows a pretty standard pattern of cutscene>long ass stretch of gameplay>cutscene>interactive action set piece etc

The cut scenes in this game are not long, at all. No idea where people are getting that from and the levels are long.

Of course it was scripted shit All that talking and commenting what youre doing was getting distracting pretty quick.

Rise of the Tomb Raider looks good, but still nowhere near the overall image quality of Uncharted 4. Screenshots and non-source bitrate videos don't do it justice. The game has jaw dropping lighting and consistently beautiful lighting. Also the best character models in gaming thus far, with facial animations better than L.A Noire.

Uncharted 4 is amazing. I think they fucking nailed everything they set out to do. Combat is quick, agile and satisfying due to tons of improvement in gunplay, level design and AI. Multiplayer feels very well-balanced and is surprisingly addictive. The series also finally got a well-written story.

Yeah it's cutscene-heavy but I think it was engaging and flows very well. If you hate cutscenes, Uncharted is not a game for you.
>>
>>337450436
This follows realism as closely as a pirate treasure hunting novel dose. If you want a reality simulator, there are far more boring ones and ones that adhere much closer to reality on PC and I don't mean that in a derogatory way. There's life simulators and driving simulators and many things like that you can play to see what a more ''realistic'' game feels like.

>>
>>337450951

Well compared to most games, it's pretty heavy on cutscenes. But I agree with you, I think they're all very well-made and definitely worth watching. I never once thought that they were drawn-out or boring. And it's not like you're constantly being interrupted by them. You can quickly skip them if they really annoy you or when you're replaying the game.

Look, I have over 1500 hours in the GoW franchise but they're outdated as shit and the beta for the new one confirmed it. I feel like an old man in a wheelchair when playing GoW. It's not that it's not fast, your movement options are just so flat and boring. The verticality in Uncharted alone makes it a much more fun shooter.
>>
>>337451427
idk about 10/10's but its better than 2 imo and 3 gets a lot of shit for being a step down but I thought the atmosphere was a lot better. 4 is definitely the best in the series especially with the last fight alone.

>You can select "encounters" from the main menu which skips all the slow parts and puts you near the action
Good to know, I wasn't aware of that.

>>
>>337451585

While that is technically impressive, I've always thought that the technology behind Crysis went to waste because the artstyle is bland and uninspired. It's very detailed but boring as fuck. Graphics is more than just pixels and tech
>>
>>337451585
all that big ass picture is showing is the nasty ass textures on those trains and those JPEG lights in the back KEK
>>
just finished it

What a load of bollocks

The game's TPS mechanics are boiled down into the most generic gameplay feeling I've ever had, I can't understand how anyone can be entertained by such mundane gameplay after playing vanquish, gears of war, mgsv or max payne 3.

The story is full of uninteresting characters with uninteresting motivations and not once did it ever capture my interest.

The gameplay portions of the game are spaced fairly well, but the amount of "cutscene/gameplay" segments whereby you are effectively in a transition part where the characters speak or do some other shit during "gameplay" were quite numerous, and always dull as fuck.

The area design I felt was the games strong point, there was always a decent level of "how can I approach this situation" applied to the game, and some of the levels were quite open.

The qte segments are completely unnecessary and genuinely laughable, it's like the last remaining vestiges of the seventh gen had to rear it's ugly head one final time, I have no idea what the developers were thinking.

The graphics are very good, but I don't understand all the "best looking game of all time" comments, this seems to come from people with very limited experience in games, as there was a fair bit in U4 which seemed dissonant, probably a remnant of when the game was supposed to be 60fps. Assassins creed unity, the order 1886, tomb raider and star wars battlefront all impressed me more on a consistency level.

Overall I feel this game is what would happen if you grabbed a bunch of disinterested, boring developers, stuck them in a boring white office room, and made them develop a game.

I bought a ps4 because of bloodborne, I hope they make a sequel to that because no other game on this console is good

Not at all.
Much better guns.
Top tier sound design.
Every weapon acts and feels unique
Great responsiveness in shooting
Lots of cover shuffling gameplay

Gears is and always has been all about the gunplay. It takes an unreal tournament direction to its gameplay while Uncharted is like quake (but much much much much slower) in that it focuses on movement.
I'm a person that prefers guns in my shooter to movement in my shooter.

I haven't played the newest one but ~20 mins of Uncharted 2 was spent pushing up on the left stick and occasionally pressing X when you climb the train car. In fact, all climbing/"platforming" in the series is like that and the puzzles are braindead.

The shooting can be fun when you're allowed to climb on top of crates and jump at the enemies but the armour dudes and *insert supernatural monster here* are no fun to fight at all.

>okay the ones in the third game were all a dream but the genie demons are supernatural in spirit

In universe bullshit explanations doesn't change anything. Ghostbusters has an explanation for ghosts but that doesn't mean they aren't supernatural.

95% of the cutscenes are real time and you can change character skins or spin the camera around in photo mode while the cutscene is happening.

Oh really, and yet Uncharted fans use pictures with grass and the same uninspired color palette to prove their point. I didn't choose that particular image randomly, you know.

Funny, idiots said the same thing about Crysis 1 and now it is regarded as a very good game. Your post screams of consolitidis.

l'm far from the problem but keep projecting.

>No supernatural themes in 4.
This actually took me by surprise. I spent the entire game from the moment I set foot on Libertalia just waiting for some spooky ancient cursed shit to happen.
>>

>DOOM
kek damn man, nah Doom looks cool but idk :l
>>
>>337452518
same, i was actually kinda a little disappointed that the pirates didn't reanimate by some cursed gold shit and try to come at you with swords lol.
>>
>>337452452

Nah, man. They're probably just falseflagging. You want my honest opinion?

Uncharted 4 first, then DOOM 4 later when it's on sale. Single Player is quit and ends on a cliffhanger.
>>
>>337451376
it takes like two seconds to do such a thing. It the guy who models him.

Learn what projection means first.
You don't believe there's actual discussion of video games on /v/
You post on /v/
You sure as hell are not posting actual video game discussion if your own words are to be believed.
Therefore you're a part of the problem

except the fact that everything in XCX is static texture with zero physic. i played it and it was big disappointment.

m8 I love me some arma and yes, the game has it's moments and the skybox is fucking amazing but the game mostly looks like ass when you look at textures or overall parts of the map. And the worst thing about it is that performance heavily depends on what server you're playing on. Here's what you'll see most of the time playing, and that's on pretty much the highest graphics setting except for picture in picture which I set to only high instead of very high which doesn't really matter since there are no mirrors around.

Also I usually get around 50-60 fps, but for this picture I ramped up sampling to 200% which halfed my FPS. I have a GTX 980 and an I7-4770k which was almost 3 times the price of my PS4. There is no doubt that uncharted is the better looking game, but you know what? That's okay because it's a mostly scripted single player game that was supposed to be eyecandy and thanks to the level desing doesn't have to render a giant open environment like arma does. It's just fucking retarded to compare those two with cherry picked screenshots.

That ad has to be fake.
>>
>uncharted is a good game!
>why?
>because it has good graphics!

All shitposting aside, what makes uncharted even remotely different, aside from being arguably the most generic series to exist, a feat on it's own that is somewhat noteworthy?
>>
I FUCKING HATE THIS NU/v/ SO FUCKING MUCH

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

WHEN "SHITPOSTING" BECAME THE FUCKING VERB FOR BEING HERE IT SHOULD HAVE TIPPED ME OFF TO LEAVE BUT NOPE I HAD TO STICK AROUND AND WATCH IT FUCKING DIE

Yeah, Average playtime on Civ games: Over 1.000 hours of fun

Average playtime on Uncharted saga: 10- 12 hours on hard.
>>
>>337452452
Probably. I'm having way more fun with Doom 4 than Uncharted.

>engaging gameplay
>a vast open world to explore
I see your confusion, it has neither of those, the shooting and platforming is simple and tedious, the exploration, while having much space, has little to no reward other than nice setpieces.
