>>337439593
I owned a G15, the first generation, and it worked great for 3 years until I spilled soup on it. I also have other logitech stuff that has been working fine for years, like a G700 (5 years and still works fine aside from the battery now failing, though it is normal and is easily replaceable. I just run it wired now), G940 and G25 that also work fine (although apparel both do have well documented issues in regard to the FFB motors that I have yet to encounter)

The only Logitech product that I've used that is pretty poorly made is the S530, and it's only the mouse that is terrible.

of course, I personally don't buy vidya keyboards anymore and just use normal mechanical keyboards with no gimmicks (unless you count mechanical as a gimmick, but I don't)

Not sure if you had a choice between i7 or keyboard (but get i5), or you just didn't know better.

In PC gaming, you don't really need an expensive keyboard. You can get cheap ones. It's the mouse that you don't compromise on.

Also, why get i5 when you can get i7? It's like getting all that sweet stuff, but getting gimped by your i5. Again, I'm not sure if you just ran out of money because you just have to get that keyboard or you didn't know better. If you can, return that i5 and get i7.

HT is hardly used by games and there is no indication that any future games will use them. An OC'd i5 plus a good cooler is a better investment than an i7 for merely gaming.

Future proofing is a dumb concept for PC building anyway.

really because buying one upgrade at a time rather than rebuilding as everypart is outdated has worked for me for the last 5 years or so.

Like you could buy an i3 or very cheap i5 and say a 680 but if you wanted to play a game at say 4k you would need to rebuild the whole thing. Whereas if you had a 17 with a 680 you could upgrade your card assuming your mobo can take it and youre good to go
>>
Typical elitist asshole PC gamers in here, making the rest of us look bad.
>>
>>337440832
That's something alright. Especially considering the fact that the 1080 costs as much as a 980 TI. There's absolutely no reason to get a 980 TI over a 1080.

Also, the performance improvements in VR and probably dx12 (if the leaked ashes of singularity benchmarks are to be trusted) are significantly higher.
>>
>tfw no single modern game appeals to yu and you are fine emulating with an i5 4th gen and a gtx 750 ti

What? Processors hardly bottleneck resolution or graphics in general. An i5 will not block any graphical upgrades you want to do.

hell, even >>337440757 proves the point. An i7 that is 3 generations newer than the i5 it is being compared too only gives an 8 fps increase.

>>
>>337441319
what about moving into 4k or VR?
honestly interested
>>
>>337440217
Well, it'll keep you from upgrading for some time. You have to think of (somewhat) future-proofing your purchase by getting the high-end tech you can afford. Eventually, they'll make games that will require i7 as minimum req, making i5 underpowered or even insufficient to run such games.

And it also depends on the kind of games you play. There are games that run better on i7, especially if you want everything maxed out. There is no debating that i7 just gives you more performance. Hell, you can even get the ones with more cores, ensuring that you'd always have enough processing power to run anything for 5 years or so.

Overall, it's just a safer bet to get i7 over i5.

>>
>>337441536
The new Tomb Raider and I think Quantum Break utilize it, so yes.

There's also benchmarks for it which pretty much utilize all of dx12's tech.
>>
>>337441468
You see, the fact he even picked GTAV as his "proof" is huge cherry-picking. GTAV is one of the only AAA games that is extremely CPU-heavy. Hell, it's one of few games that is CPU-heavy.

As far as 4k and VR goes, that all falls on the graphics card and game engine. Unless it's decoding something, all the CPU does is assist the graphics card with certain calculations.
>>
>>337441539
>A game using the skyrim engine is cpu intensive
What a surprise
>>
>>337441664
yeah but why do all the VR systems say an i7 is required not recommended then? Could you run them on a i5 with a 980?
>>
>>337441756
>yeah but why do all the VR systems say an i7 is required not recommended then?

I never heard of this, link?

> Could you run them on a i5 with a 980?
Unless these programs magically run hyperthreading than no.
>>
>>337441843
*Then YES. Hurrrrrrr.

A 980 and a decent i5 should do well with VR, though probably not as good as a 1080.
>>
>>337441730
This has nothing to do with cpu insensitivity though. Don't ignore the facts, i7s perform better, which means Hyperthreading is actually being utilized by the game.

More games are going to be like this.
>>
>>337441468
>>337441502
>>337441539
If the specific game can utilize what the i7 can offer, then sure. Point it, you don't know what will actually fully utilize it, even VR application, so why would you future proof for the unknown?

If you have money to throw away, go for it. In the case of FO4 or any other CPU intensive game, if100 bucks extra is worth an additional 12 FPS for you, then go ahead. For most people, it's diminishing returns and it's results that could be achieved with OC'd i5s.
>>
>>337441962
>More games are going to be like this.

Not really.
>>
Did you seriously buy a video card when the new ones are around the corner
>>
>>337441595
>Your i7 will probably die before it's needed
I've got a pretty good cooling solution and I don't have to overclock too much (or sometimes, I don't at all) to achieve the performance I need of it. It's all in the cooling.

Hell, I still have an old rig with Core 2 Duo, and that one I abused it with overclocking, and it's still around because I had good cooling and maintain it well.

If your magic ball says so.

but for the vast majority of current and near future games, HT is useless and FPS gains seen from stock comparison are just purely from the increased clock.

Hell, in some games, HT actually is detriment to performance according to some tests.

*Yawn*

are you still here PCuck? I was just playing some video games from my bed. I don't even have to get up to turn on the console, I just use the console button on the wireless controller.

What's it like being literally tied to your machine, forced to play it at a work desk close to an outlet?

>implying you'll even get to play at all

Once you've spent the better part of two days putting your precious PC together, you'll spend another 2 installing your Window$ data mining OS and other NECESSARY drivers and bloatware for the PC to even function in a basic manner. Don't worry, I'll still be tucked up in bed playing my console games that start up the moment I pop the CD in.

On the fifth day you'll download your mandatory DRM, "Steam", and spend the next two or three days downloading and installing your game before you can even think about playing it. In that time the roastie postie will have delivered my new console exclusive to my house and I'll be playing it immediately on my console.

So a week later you sit down at your uncomfortable, cramped desk space, and choose "Play game". But oh no! Your drivers are out of date! Spend the next hour installing GAME READY drivers for your hardware to provide it's basic functions correctly. I'll be playing games, or maybe watching a Blu-Ray or two. Oh, sorry PCuck, you didn't order a blu-ray drive for your amazing shiny new toy! Looks like that's another function missing.
>>
>>337445714
So now you're ready to play? H-hold on just a minute! You need to spend minimum 3-6 hours configuring your graphics settings so that you can run it at "muh 60fps".

Don't forget to spend a day or two curating game-fixing mods for your "PC Exclusive" titles. I'll still be playing games from the comfort of my bed.

Over a week later you're ready to play! Finally! i'm being sincere; Go ahead, you've earned it!

Just make sure to save often, you never know when you might crash to desktop due to memory mismanagement or conflicting drivers, a bad HDD sector, loose cables, over heating....etc. etc. Have fun cuck!

Oh, I leave the bed. When I've had my fill of gaming (which is often, because the time I dedicate to gaming is filled with exactly that; Gaming, not troubleshooting), I head on down to the gym and pump out a good 4/3/2/1; gaming is but one aspect of my life, something you cuckles don't seem to understand. A quick shower and I'm off to the restaurant where I exchange an hour or two of lounge piano services for dinner and drinks. Just in time to roll home and pop Netflix on the console and watch a couple of enriching documentaries.

So sorry that you're still up to your elbows in data cables, RAID arrays, thermal paste and sharp metal bits at midnight, hoping that tomorrow is finally the day you can hunch over your work monitor and play your exclusive game
