He was not even in Zelda II, even though they planned a sequel because the "End of The Legend of Zelda 1" text is even in the Japanese version.
He technically only came back in A Link to the Past. And in A Link to the Past, they mention his backstory as a human and call him "Ganondorf" in-game.
Come to think of it, Nintendo has had us by the hook all along with every game. We had to play Ocarina of Time to meet this Ganondorf. Then in Ocarina of Time his fate splits ambiguously between two timelines.
A prequel to SS would be pretty shit, because it would either HAVE to be Demise or soemthing new and frankly Demise being the new face of Evil for Zelda (Before the reign of Ganon) sucks because he's a shit character in general.
On the other hand Fi implies he appears differently to different people so he could be a completely different beast altogether.
Honestly, I think the WiiU Zelda will be set after Skyward and before Ocarina. I'm not sure how that would work storywise except to see how the Gerudo establish their lone male king lore. Or the Sheikah with more presence in the world before declining. That's all I got for speculation.
