What's your opinion on the Steam Controller /v/?
Never had a chance to try it. I've polled /v/ a couple times and so far consensus is it's okay. Nothing amazing.
I like it.
It was a little uncomfortable at first, but after you really start to delve into the levels of customization that you can have for every game, it really starts to shine.
It's good for anything a normal controller with joystick is not.
It's bad at everything a normal controller is good at.
So it's great for couch FPS, RTS like, and anything that need a mouse and ect, but bad for action games that need joysticks.
Why should anybody get this over an Xbone controller? I'm not trying to denigrate it, I'm just curious.

Its decent, definitely good for games were precise control isn't needed like Civ, cities skyline, and darkest dungeon. For games that require precise control it kinda blows and I usually prefer M+KB or controller for those.
All I needed it for was to play Dark Souls. It's functional, but it'll never replace a mouse (a statement that surprises literally nobody).
To prove this, look up any FPS of choice with a mouse and keyboard. Now attempt to play the game by using only your right thumb to move the mouse.

Depend on the games you want to play. It does not replace the Xbox 360 or Xbone controller, but offer new options.
Like playing Civ 5 on the couch. Or playing games that are not Controller friendly like Path of Exile or puzzle games/ adventure games .
It's also better for FPS games.
Also, I would recommend the Wii U pro controller over the Xbone and Ps4 controllers.
The 30 hours battery life and button placement is great for a lot of games.

works great except the bumpers feel like shit (really stiff) and the triggers don't travel as far as you'd expect
I play racing games using the gyro
worth it for the extra features and customization imo

Have you tried the gyro? Makes playing FPS kinda like Splatoon

You lose quality when you move to a couch, but if you dont care about pure precision and just want to be comfy, it's great.

WHO MAKES THAT GAMECUBE / SNES GAMEPAD???

Actually, I've found action games that have decent built in camera control work fairly well. I've tried both DMC and Dark Souls (which I just beat for the first time a couple hours ago, actually), and both played fine.
Basically, anything that requires two sticks all the time is a little awkward, but you might be able to customize it to work better, depending on the game.
Though fighting games are shit on it. The stick is just too fat to feel comfortable.

hori

Hori, it was made for the GBA adapter on the Gamecube.

I tried playing fighting games with the dpad and buttons on the touch pads and it was pretty weird desu but I'm used to arcade stick
also the default camera setting in every game is retarded. I always change it to joystick move or mouse if it allows it. I don't understand why anyone would want to swipe their thumb every time they move the joystick

What made you try a mouse like that, and then stick with it?

When I was 15, I asked my /g/ uncle for a replacement mouse after my idiot sister spilled soda on it. He handed me pic related. I decided to use it since I didn't want to seem ungrateful. Within a week, I was hooked and have used trackballs ever since. I'm on an Elecom model now.

The hori N64 pad is easily the best way to play N64 games.
