I just got the grenade launcher and I can't seem to manage to get through the 30 or so Kleer that they throw at you after you beat the giant rocket launcher guy

I've been playing this game since age 9, and bought the HD version last week and got around to playing today. I played it on Easy when I was a kid. This time I started Serious.
These fuckers are not nearly as annoying and horrible as they were on Easy. They actually make the game unfun to play to be honest. There's just nothing fun about having these fucking over powered asshole spammed at you. It doesn't help you lack the sufficient weaponry to deal with the large numbers they throw at you, especially early on.

I played SS:TFE on Serious Difficulty as my first exposure to Serious Sam, and by the end I learned to love the Kleer. They get spammed so much because they are actually a well-designed and versatile enemy that really makes sure you have your spacing and movement skills down pat.
It's a pretty cool feeling when you can herd a giant gang of them and dance around them safely enough to take them out.

It took me a while to get it myself and it was a matter of feel rather than a particular technique I was missing. From what I remember it's all about anticipating their lunge and learning the right angle to circle strafe away from them so they go flying past you. And if you herd them correctly when they first run at you, you can get them in a chain so the mob is all lunging at you right as you're strafing past them.
I dunno. One of the cool things about SS is that there's actually a fair amount of complicated shit going on in the big crowd fights that you end up picking up on and avoiding without thinking about it.

You can one shot them if you shoot the in the side while they lunge. That pillar room is tough on newcomers because you can easily lose track of ones you didn't manage to kill in one go. Tickets are your friend.
