Yes.

Yes

unbelievable amount of content
great campaign where changing the difficulty adds more objectives
campaign has both co-op AND counter-op options for every single mission
huge set of weapons, every single one of which is satisfying as fuck with great sound effects and punchy animation
even the fucking tutorial in this game is great

and that's not even counting the fucking multiplayer which is the meat of the game, with customizable teams and characters, and setting gimmicky AI patterns like making one of the CPUs do nothing but go around stealing weapons and not using them, or having one that only targets whoever the highest score.

game is a masterpiece and the best game in the genre

I highly recommend the HD port of the original PD, but avoid PD Zero! The original is a masterpiece, while PD Zero is terrible.

I played golden eye a bit recently
Doesn't control as bad as I remember.

Perfect dark was always step ahead, but I love em both anyway.
>>
>>337418927
The HD re-release on the 360 is actually decent

Framerate goes at 60 but not without drops during bigger explosions, and texture quality is overall improved

I think they reduced some of the shit you could do in the multiplayer character model customizer though
>>
probably the best campaign of any FPS
>>
>>337418927
they actually added the goldeneye guns to use in MP. the art direction is slightly different, but its very good
>>
>>337411302
Its the game responsible for setting my standards so high.
>>
Game is fantastic. Some serious love and attention was put into it, shame it was released at the end of the N64s life. Multiplayer with my buddies was honestly the most fun game experience I've ever had. So many weapons, nearly doubled since they have secondary functions. Shooting through walls with Farsights, mounting a turret with the Laptop Gun, remote controlling fucking rockets with the Slayer, grenades that could act like pinballs that bounce around the room, three different types of mines, the list seriously goes on. Also, some fantastic music that never got boring, despite playing sometimes several hour matches.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMVcj-vIWug

>>337422780
Yeah, the two changes that come to mind was N-Bomb changed to N-Grenade, and the fact that you could no longer mix-and-match guy heads on girl bodies and vice versa, which was a shame because my character I always used was Secretary body with bearded Hispanic man face.
>>
I remember playing when I was about 14 and running through certain missions probably 100+ times trying to beat them on the hardest difficulty.

In a way i dont play PFS games anymore because PD was top shelf in regards to difficulty, no regen or checkpoints. I REALLY miss that.

Multiplayer hours logged where well over 200 from what i remember, probably 60+ campaign on top of that.

Definitely get the re-release though. Game looks awesome after the reskin @ 60fps.
>>
>>337421797
Eh. It was a good launch title, but took steps back from the original.

Someone made a true M&K FPS mod for Perfect Dark emulation, and also had code for a Goldeneye MP with M&K FPS, been hoping he would come back and implement that same stuff for a PD MP

Enemies in perfect dark (and goldeneye) move in bursts with small pauses in between. They fire, stop firing, pause, roll sideways and fire, stop firing, stand up, fire a burst, step sideways, fire another burst.

This is important because it makes it so their attacks can be predicted and dodged like in a melee action game. No other shooter has this, and not many people understand how unique this makes Perfect Dark. It has more focus on movement because auto aim was always a big factor in it.

And DarkSims apparently used to be even more bullshit during development according to a former Rare dev

>I remember the Dark sims being unbelievably impossible to beat in early versions - they were only changed when Tim Stamper himself caught one on tape - it was at the end of a corridor then Tim died. Checking the VHS (aaah good old days.. eeewww) and finding the sim was weilding a rocket launcher and strafed out into sight for a single frame, fired and ducked back. The team changed it to make it "more possible" the next version

I keep forgetting what their gimmick was over PerfectSims, who already have perfect map awareness.
>>
>>337427860
i thought dark sims were supposed to emulate how twitchy and unpredictable a 10 year old jacked up on pixie sticks and mt dew could be.
>>
>>337427979
And people say bots are always easier than humans..........
>>
>>337427860
iirc perfect sims behaved like a really good human player.
Darksims outright cheated. They could fire handguns as fast as submachine guns. They always had perfect accuracy, and I heard rumors that they could teleport as well if you didn't have the little map on the corner of the screen.
>>
>>337411302
Probably the best console GPS ever.

Name another with so many multiplayer options.

The XBox 360 version was really nice, they shilled the shit out of it here, though
>>
>>337428212
TimeSplitters which was made by the same people anyway, and possibly Red Faction 2 are all I can think of.
>>
>>337428167
I kept hearing about the teleportation rumors as well, but never got to verifying it.

PerfectSims did have very good map awareness, in the challenge set in the Facility stage the guy could hunt you down to where you respawned if he killed you and there's no radar either, he'd always go for the shield once it spawned too. There's a video somewhere where he waits out an explosion before entering a room.

Welp, I guess I gotta buy an xbox 360 then. I still replay the campaign of PD64 with a friend of mine over and over almost monthly. He constantly bitches about the terrible graphics and framerate, and kept wishing that there'd be an HD remake.

I think he even had an xbox 360, so I don't know how he doesn't know about this. Thanks guys.

I'm assuming they did this because they were also making a Goldeneye HD to release alongside it, but it got canceled because of rights issues, so they just shoved the guns into PD's MP to have something at least

I probably misrepresented there. It's his N64, and I bitch about the framerate too (in multiplayer, some levels like Villa go down to around 12 fps). I'll probably split the cost of a 360 with him, so we can keep up our perfect agent runs.
