i was deployed in military and got an alienware, definitely worth getting if u have to get a laptop
also i will be overseas next year and will probably be in same boat as OP again, i'd prefer a laptop so i can travel with it
and cost benefit ratio, laptop is always worth it over not having anything, because sitting around playing vidya for 200 hours for 60 dollars will save you thousands when the only other option is to "go out" which usually leads to exorbitant spending
just get a high end laptop, and it will play new releases for 2-3 years
