It turns out it WAS cherrypicking, but it isn't fake. Sorry to burst your bubble. 12,070 peak isn't astounding. Left 4 Dead 2, a 7 year old game, is still beating it out on a daily basis while having an all time peak 13 times higher.
I wouldn't say it is dead-on-arrival. Still, it won't keep players attention for years.

Battleborn is selling ahead of Borderlands 1. They're also relying on word of mouth to push sales and so far, it's working.
As for the game? It's not bad at all. There's only one OP hero. It has more content than some other MOBAs. The sindle player, while lackluster on its own, makes for a good change of pace after an hour or two of multiplayer. The ONLY reasons /v/ hates it is because Burch (even though he no longer works for Gearbox), Gearbox (a bloo bloo bloo muh colonial marines), and MOBA.
Is the game steamworks? otherwise the numbers on steam dont mean much.

Yeah something the asshats of /v/ seem to not understand is that PC isn't the be all end all. Apparently the game is doing pretty fucking well on PS4 and to a lesser extent Xbone.
So if the game is tracking ahead of Borderlands in sales and keeps that pace, Borderlands released October 2009 and had 2 million sales by December. So 2 million players by July.
