I would be fine with Byrne, his design was sick and I feel like there's lots of potential for cuhrazy with that guantlet. Yuga is the best choice, I'll be so mad if he's not in. He's a central character, he'd have the most unique moveset AND a painting-magic themed moveset would represent unique aspects of the source game best of all. Hyrule Warriors Legends can be bought on amazon for about 30 bucks. the DLC for it is 15 bucks for the whole package. ok so that's 45 bucks.
the "definititive" NX version of course would include the old DLC, but they're gonna attempt to sell it all together for 60. it's not gonna be cheaper than the 3DS version, unless if NX tanks harder than the Virtual Boy.
so, if you want to enjoy the game, and you have a new 3ds, this is fine.

wii u has less features. you can't switch to up to four players on the map at once. you're also lacking content which is locked onto the 3ds such as Linkle's Tale.
you'd be paying more for the characters that come with the 3DS game free. also as balancing was messed around with for DLC, you will grind much more to get to levels beyond 99 for Disgaea tier grinding, 3ds rebalances everything and brings the cap back down to lv 99.

Linebeck will almost certainly be water, and Toon Link will probably get a Spirit Tracks themed fire/lightning weapon (possibly even a train itself)
Yuga will 100% be shadow, and assuming the other character is based around the Sand/Tornado rods, they'll probably slap lightning or light on it.

I just kind of feels like I am missing out no matter what version I am playing. And I can't really help but feel let down by that.
Playing the 3DS I would feel really sad at the weaker performance / compromises that had to be made. And not being able to play it on my HD TV.
Playing it on the Wii U I would never be able to not think of the missing features and content.
And I mean, none of this are really nitpicks. These are huge things you're missing out on no matter what system you choose to play it on. I really do wish that they make an NX/whatever re-release because the way it is now is kind of sad. Too sad for me to feel like investing in it.

I can see where you're coming from. The other day my brother booted up Wii U Hyrule Warriors and while I knew there was a graphical difference, it really made me stop and appreciate how much more powerful the Wii U was.
To be fair, though, the absolute most noticeable change was modifying Lana's Gate weapon so that, instead of summoning mini bosses, it summons balls of light that represent those bosses, but otherwise function exactly the same. Other than that, I haven't really had any issues with weapons not working right, even shit like the Great Fairy and Epona.
