Has it aged well, /v/?

All I can say is that the next silent hill is not gonna be released FUCK THIS
>>337339428
yes

I liked SH3, but had problems with the enemy designs, they just seemed too wacky, like the dino looking monsters in the tunnels leading to the apartement complex
I'd say so. The original still plays pretty solid coming from a person who played them ten years after their original release. I will say 4 is a little clunky as they took out tank controls but left the constantly changing camera angles.

*original trilogy

2 and 3 still arguably look good, and they all play fairly fine. I'd say I enjoyed the gameplay of 3 the most, still need to try 4.
>>337339428
first three? yes, they're great
the rest were never good to begin with
>inb4 4
backtracking, no darkness, escort mission and a chainsaw/dual pistol wielding kurt cobain clone killed any potential the game may've had
I don't care if it was made by team silent
Graphically yes. 'All doors are locked' game design is horseshit. The Evil Within is the way to go for decent third-person horror games.
They still look fucking great.
Heather is waifu material
Here's what I think stands out the most from the big three.
1: Most satisfying puzzles. I still remember that piano puzzle
2: Most satisfying ending. Defeating pyramid head honestly felt like a huge triumph as James was finally able to let go of the past. Not to mention the realization of his wife. Characters are also pretty well thought out.
3: Graphically impressive for its time and into the next generation. The character models and lighting were pretty impressive as well as the effects on monsters and animated wall textures.

piano puzzle was only effective because you were 13.
solution is literally in the same room. today you'd be laughing at how it's just as dumb as any other puzzle nowadays.

>The Evil Within
no thanks
the first three fatal frames, first two sirens and even the first dead space are all better choices
>>337341381
Sounds to me like you're stuck in the past anon. Those you mentioned are all great games though.
>Want to play 2 and 3 again
>no console
>no windows
what to
>>337341985
Install windows on virtual machine.
That is all.

the only puzzle i rly couldnt solve on my own was that Shakespeare puzzle in SH3 on hard.
Most other puzzles are rly laughtable and just depending on just finding the clue.
>>337339428
No, but it stayed the same - outstanding production values, top tier sound design, hit and miss puzzles, flawed NG+ incentive, 'combat' that's just ... there, awful bossfights (look at Laughing Octopus to see how SH type bossfight needs to be done) and inadvertently campy dialogue. Monster design went from good to very bland and should have never been so much in focus.

Most retarded puzzle was the crematorium one in SH3 and both are examples of how not to design puzzles. Even though Shakespeare one is simplistic it relies on outside knowledge, data that cannot be gathered in the game world. They might as well have a quiz about Napoleonic Wars at that point.
Got a used PS2 with SH 2, 3 and 4, and Fatal Frame 2 and 3.
Can't wait to start my horror marathon.
Someone dump that .gif of Vincent, you know the one. The animation in the face is unbelievable for the time.

Make sure to play Killer 7 even though it's not exactly a horror game.
>>337344657
Killer7 is GOAT. Everyone should play Killer7.
