Should I buy a 4K or 1080p TV, /v/?

I'll be buying a GTX 1080 when the cheaper non founders editions are out, so my PC can do 4K.

I mostly console game though as I like Nip games more than Western, and I still doubt the Neo will be 4k, mostly 1080/60

Looking at this if I go 4K

Baring some unexpected announcement, 4k tv's and monitors are going to be subpar for at least another year. Unless money means nothing to you, just wait.

This is a 50 inch full LED array 4K set with HDR for $800

1080p costs maybe $100 less, 4K is cheap now.

It all comes down to scaling.

i got a 4k 43 inch visio last black friday for around 300.

It is pretty gud, but the whole woah 4k gaming is blown way out of proportion.

There are some games that work really well in 4k MGSV being one maxed out at 60fps, but most can't pull that 60fps with out having to tank the settings down to medium.

The point is 4k is at a good start, but is not fully there yet. Maybe in another year or 2 when something after the 1080 comes out.

The 980 ti was already a single card 4K solution and the 1080 is stronger.

And 4K is pennies more than 1080p now it seems.
>>
>>337297563
well im telling you the 980ti can't fully play everything in 4k without tanking settings.

Witcher 3 maxes at 35FPS stable on a 980ti

That'll likely be 55FPS~ on a 1080

i said 60fps in the post before. if you wan't less than 60 yes.

it's your money dude i am just telling you my experience with it.

I don't really need 60fps, I only play single player games.

Getting 40 or above is plenty for me.

I have a 7850 right now.

>buying a new GPU before Volta or Vega
>buying a GPU that's barely better then a 980Ti

I'm upgrading from a 7850, the upgrade is gonna be monstrously significant.

Then get a 1080 and a 4k tv. Since you don't care about framerate you will enjoy it more than most people.

It still does look a world different than 1080p.
