You must have misunderstood the point I made.
You activate the weapon art, "poise" as you call it is enabled, and the effect happens.
This effect is IDENTICAL whether you have 80 poise or 0 poise. THIS MEANS it doesn't activate poise; it activates the weapon's effect which is NOT POISE.

The weapon effect is referred to by the community at large as hyperarmor so as to not confuse it for the BROKEN FUCKING POISE.
As far as I noticed poise only activates when you attack with some of the weapons. Not even sure if the armor matters when that happens, but to be honest I would prefer that if I could tell from the armor if the guy can endure my attack or not.
For example, if I fight someone wearing Havel armor I would know that he is going to shrug off my first straight sword attack, so my second move would be to dodge as fast as possible, knowing that he could hit me if I went for a second hit.
Now what keeps happening to me is that even when I attack and hit another player first, he might or might not shrug it off and finish his own animation.
I guess its safe to say that right now melee PVP is pretty much a game of paper, rock and scissors. There will be a lot more double k.o. happening as well as luck based victory.
