At this particular moment, when harder difficulties just inflate stats on units and give out free resources like candy, so you have to cheese the AI to win. I just played some bfme2 and got assraped by the comp despite having a 86:1 kill ratio. He was literally shitting out more hit points per second than I could trample with my cavalry.
And of course, these games were made by someone who was brutally tortured and raped by towers when he was a kid, and so he used the opportunity to vent his raging hatred of everything produced by a builder by making structures expensive, slow to build and super fragile, and siege weapons literal building erasers. Let one catapult slip by and that's half of your base gone before the fucking cavalry even gets to it.

These are the shitters that hover around 50% winrate and never know why they're winning a game. I'm at 66% and there's no real sign of dropping off yet, it's just a grind until I get matched with good players overall.

Fighting games with no tutorials. A lot of fighting games have their own unique systems so it's not like you can say they're all the same. Having no explanation about how they work can just needlessly complicate things.
Like, look at Arcana Heart 3. Your super bar fills up when attacking/being attacked as you'd expect but that only fills up the maximum length of your bar and your bar recovers quickly. I've seen people have no idea what a homing dash is and think it's the same as the double tap forward dash. No one knows what the difference between arcanas are, what their attack and defence values mean or what they even do.
On the flip side you have games like BlazBlue that explain all the systems, Even character specific systems, which might not be inherently obvious if you're just messing around in the training room without knowing what you're doing.

Forced failure. That is games that force you to lose at something before you can actually beat it legitimately, usually so they can drop more expository dialogue. I don't mind if they purposely make the first run exceptionally difficult, but if it's literally impossible in the first attempt it's a load of shit. It just pisses all over any effort you expended.

When a game takes away my sense of accomplishment, or rather, when the time I have spent on a part of a game becomes meaningless almost immediately.
One example of this was in Final Fantasy XIII when fighting the pope/monk/priest boss. I spent some time on that fight during his "true form" or whatever, and I was happy when I finally beat him, but the following cutscene that played afterwards was the boss descending in his human form. No cuts, no scratches, no bruises. no bleeding, no heavy panting, or any sign of wear and tear that showed that I did something to him, especially with the resources I used. I would have been satisfied with even just one of the things I listed, but they made it so that he was perfectly fine, making the boss fight meaningless and pointless.
