If you play EoT first you might appreciate the change in graphics/ game mechanics more when going to SMD, but you probably won't want to play them back to back since they're both pretty similar in story and gameplay

SMD was my first mystery dungeon and I absolutely loved it. Holy fuck the story started off cheesy but when it picks up it's awesome. It impressed me till the end, and it is hard after a while. I recommend it, OP.
