Japan is fucking retarded when it comes to licensing stuff, with every little piece that isn't explicitly made by the developer's themselves (like voice acting and music by outside artists) being caught up in a ton of legal red-tape. It's one of the reasons why games like the mainline Super Robot Wars games are next to impossible to license, because doing so would involve going through the nightmare of all of the licensed music from various anime.

Hey, sometimes a dub can actually be pretty good. I might be in the minority here but I thought that the JP versions of Persona 3 and 4 were actually pretty boring, I think the dub was better. It might be because they were anime 'superstars' but still.

That reminds me, do any of the SMT or Persona games suffer from censorship? The only two examples I know of is the final social link scene with Ken in P3P ends in implied /ss/ in the Japanese version, and Ulala calls Chizuru a slant-eyed bitch in the Nip version of Eternal Punishment. I thought I heard about monster designs being changed in one game though, but that might have been a case of people thinking something was censored when it was the same way in the Japanese version.

Yeah, I thought Igor's voice was jarring as fuck. I imagined it somewhat deep when I played through P1 and P2, and was surprised at how old and frail he sounded when 3 played Persona 3 (Japanese version. I looked up the dub later and his dub voice is more what I imagined, except more cartoony). I thought they might try to get a guy who sounded somewhat like the old VA but nope, deep as fuck Igor.
