Here is my review of UC4. Down to earth and honest with non bias, spoiler alert.

My total play time was 12 hours and 7 minutes or so.

Gameplay design - It's shit, all I did was climb (Mash X) for 9 hours. The other 3 hours was either slow walking, puzzles, or the occasional gunfight with basically AI dummies like any other shooter campaign. This is not exaggerating either.

Graphics - Not always great but has its moments. First moments in Madagascar with the truck, and when you are on the final island is where the game shines the most.
Some of the best graphics I've seen for sure, as much as I hate saying it.

Story - It's straight garbage. It's an endless wild goose chase for the lost treasure that will keep stroking your dick and leading you on, but the climax is weak. The development between Drake and Sam as they were young is the best thing here because the scenes were well executed but, the material that is there is literally generic "We were meant for this" tier, nothing amazing about it at all.
Oh and the villain isn't even in the game 90% of the time even though we know he's around, and his motivations was weak/bitch/pussy tier. His "boss" fight was cool though I will give it that. It is apparent that Amy Hennigs departure also led to her story being scrapped and having the game being delayed has taken a toll on the quality of it's writing. Even though the story is this "meh" everyone in the industry is going to eat this shit up.

Sound/Music - Meh forgettable tier. I personally have a thing for music in games as I think it really can strengthen critical moments, this game doesn't do it.

I'll give it a 6 because of the god awful gameplay design, and meh story. It is literally all graphics.
Good thing I rented it on redbox for 3$ and beat it on the day of release.

Sounds like someone didnt get bribed.

Also, you're a retard, you know Sony can track you via the code printed on that disk right.

Lawsuit incoming.

lol anyways its back in the redbox.

That saddens me the most because she usually has gold when it comes to her writing. I'm sure Nadia would have been a more interesting character written by her instead of the chucklefuck who replaced her.

This review is on point even though i thought it was good. If i had to give it a score I'd say 6.5/10. There's more gameplay in the vita game though.
>>
>>337261184
Nadine has no actual closure she kinda just walks out.
>>
Seems fair.
>>
Almost made it the entire game without motion controls. I give it a four... out of five.
>>
Solid. I agree with pretty much all of that, but I enjoyed the platforming a touch more than you did. I'd give it a 7 out of 10, but not one fucking decimal above that.
>>
>>337261202
>>
>>337259335
you're wrong I'm afraid.

Whats a game you would consider a 10?
>>
Is this what a non shill/PCuck/Sonypony/nintendrone review looks like?
>>
>>337259335
So it's basically uncharted 2 and 3 combined? Got it.
>>
>>337259335
Is there less gunfights and action then the previous games?

Honestly, I enjoy the puzzles and stealth shit more than the waves of enemies.
>>
>>337264707
I do have standards. I personally give games a 10 when I feel they are worth every penny. A game that has little to no QTEs, Cutscenes that don't interrupt gameplay much, lengthy/big world, Souls are good games, zeldas, Another factor is the fact that uncharted is heavily story based and has failed this time around for reasons stated. It has very little gameplay elements.
>>
>>337259335
>Some of the best graphics I've seen for sure, as much as I hate saying it.
why would you hate saying that?
>>
The butthurt shines through with every sentence.
>>
>>337261009
The more realistic graphics get, the funnier this kind of stuff gets.
I love it.

are you me? I shared most of these observations as I played through. I'm still gonna finish it while I wait for Doom though -- fingers crossed on that one.

Quantum Break surprised me as the superior uncharted game this year
>>
>>337264997
If I were to count the amount of actual puzzles in tombs (not box pushing ones) I'd say there were like 5-8 if i remeber. Gunfights are really short the game has an odd structure of long peace times, but then odd strings of encounters, then back to peace. id say this happens about 8 times
>>
>>337265141
because it's wasted on such an on rails experience
>>
>>337264707
The Mega Man X Collection.
But that's... like... my opinion, man
>>
>>337261009

do reviewers look at anything besides player models when evaluating graphics? because literally everything besides drakes models textures looks like shit in that picture. the geometry is ps1 tier, flat floor and 4 flat walls with a few 3d sticks and rocks poking out. the tesselation is almost nonexistent even compared to peer releases like dark souls. lighting and textures are shit too

I hate saying it because everyone else says it.
"Absolute amazing, Lush," Shill terms..

FFXV can still have a chance here, If luminous is maxed out ever on PS4 or Neo, after they apply the umbra for stable FPS the lighting will literally outshine uncharted.

>>337265282
Doom is going to be bad, no review copies were sent out and that is always a bad sign.

I was disappointed by the ending, but I thought it was really good. Not as good as Uncharted 2 but better than 3.

1 doesn't exist in my mind. Fucking wave shooter with a story.

Not him but you're joking right? Uncharted's water is not simply a shader on top of a flat surface like 99.9999% of other games.

Way better than GTAV's implementation
>>
>>337265323
This is pretty accurate and is why i don't think the game is as good as it could have been.
>>
>>337265773
Has Uncharted ever had that though? That's more Tomb Raider's schtick

all 3 previous Uncharted games had final act reveals of supernatural elements, like giant blue men in 2

>>337266020
>buzzwords
everything is a fucking buzzword on /v/ idiot. you can't describe a game without being called out for it.
>>
>>337266016
Yes Uncharted 2 has basically zombies, you find the fountain of youth or something like a blue liquid and people could live forever.
>>
>>337266016
Maybe supernatural is the wrong word but I believe the anon means he's disappointed there's nothing like the 'zombies' from the first game, big blue guys from the second, or flaming skull men from the third.
>>

>>337266401
>preorder cancelled
You should've gotten it by now if you'd preordered.
>>
>>337264997

I'm not exaggerating: the game is roughly 75% walking and climbing while characters deliver exposition and stale quips back and forth. 10% is pushing boxes and mashing x to keep the movie playing, 5% is a few short puzzles that Miyamoto would consider too easy, and 10% is enemy encounters
>>
>>337259335
>Gameplay design - It's shit, all I did was climb (Mash X) for 9 hours. The other 3 hours was either slow walking, puzzles, or the occasional gunfight with basically AI dummies like any other shooter campaign. This is not exaggerating either.
This was my main worry, I wasn't 100% on the title, I'll grab it cheap at some point but all anyone ever said was how great it looked.
I still believe in the term
"It's not how it looks, Its how it plays"
>>
Totally agree about the story being nothing but a wild goose chase for 10 hours, the music being completely forgettable, and saturation of "here are a series of slightly discolored ledges for you to mash X mindlessly to traverse to pad time and distance in the game world," but people who play Uncharted like a pop-and-stop 3rd person shooter are literally playing the game wrong.

This game has more movement options than ever and I feel like the battle arenas are really good in this game. There are only two or three times I felt like my only options were to shoot down a hallway at someone from behind cover. Lots of verticality and rope swinging in just about every combat arena in the game. I was immensely satisfied with the gameplay in this iteration.

It was also nice that after 3 the setpieces felt connected most of the time.

I stay away from overly-hyped games. I also don't buy Western games. They all lack creativity and full of cutscenes with less gameplay. The gameplay is linear and awful. It's sad because Western games were the best before. Now it's just Hollywood-tier shit.

>a movie game will have one of the boss battles of the year

It's insane that they actually made a fun and exciting boss fight in an Uncharted game of all games.
>>
>>337266740
OP here, I have to agree the actual TPS controls were an improvment over past games, but blame the enemies. Last of us was more interesting in that department because of zombies with variation. UC4 Limited itself this time around by not having any supernatural enemies.
>>
>>337265323

as games become more like movies, non-cinematic elements like waves of enemy encounters will be reduced. expect future naughty dog games to have only 2 or 3 big action moments like you'd get in a "smart" action movie like drive
>>
>>337265927

yeah you get people expressing similar opinions because they're sharing observations you dipshit
>>
>>337267041
Yes, uncharted 1 was sure great with its gunfights around every corner.
>>
>>337266974
are you kidding?

The big "boss fight is fucking awful, and represents everything that should of been abandoned in seventh gen.

When you use a term as loosely as "best boss battles" think about what you are saying, where games like DMC, dark souls and the like all exist.
>>
Its hilarious to see how much the people in charge of U4 never really got why people loved the previous games.

Theres so much fucking slow and pace breaking shit just because it worked in The Last of Us. Better read this piece of paper I found in a skeletons satchel for some reason. Better slowly walk for some reason, better slowly talk to me slow brother slowly with the awful bants.

If Amy was still there, theres not a chance this would be the Uncharted that we got.
>>
>>337266974
Even Uncharted 2 had a good boss battle where you fight that big German guy who hulks out.

UC1 and 3 were boring QTE fest bullshit though
>>
>>337267373
I'm not kidding. If people like MGS4's last fight at all, it would be criminal to call U4's bossfight bad since it's the same kind of shit. If you're on board with that kind of thing, it is very exciting.

>DMC
>This year

>>
>>337266974

>>
>>337267608
>german guy
>UC1 a QTE fest even though there's a very difficult section leading up to it

It's like you have no idea what you're talking about. UC3 was shit though.
>>
>>337259335
if you never played any uncharted game before, this is what you may think.

the story is pretty top tier except for some parts, and also it's sad that they ruined a lot of good stuff in trailers, like the moment sam comes back, the sequence when sam is being chased, elena finding out, etc

the final chapters on libertalia when you're separated from sam are just dull af. i didn't like scotland that much either.

other than that, game is pretty fucking good. it's the little details that make it worth it, but this game was really overmarketed

graphics wise i think it's bretty gud, if not always "flashy", and i think that also describes the game well. the setpieces aren't as fantastic as the other games, but the game is so grounded and filled with detail (whether it be the mud on cars/clothes, or simply the physicality of the rope and the car winch) that you're more invested in them and it's fun to go through.

banter is still great, nolan made me laugh out loud a couple of times, and a lot of the dialogue seems natural, the optional conversations are cool. they get the look of the characters pretty right too, everything feels natural, the textures, the animation, the performances

overall 9/10. probably not worth the 60$ if you rate it purely on time/money or expect it to be a rly interactive "gamey" game, it's just a really cool experience with TOP tier presentation and detail
>>
>>337267217

uncharted 1 had less than most shooters for its time. cinematic shooters like Alan wake, and uncharted 2 and 3 continue this trend. uncharted 4 and quantum break have even.

so what's wrong with the observation that as games get more cinematic shootouts become less frequent?

Here's an idea, now this is gonna sound fucking crazy, but don't watch trailers for games that are 80% story except for the reveal trailer. I went into the game knowing nothing about it but that drake has a brother and he pulls him into another adventure, and I loved every minute of it just like I knew I would.
