Reminder that 3D World improves on Galaxy in every way and anyone who says its bad and Galaxy isn't, hasn't actually played it. I can understand not liking the linear style of Galaxy/3DW and preferring Sunshine and 64, I'm that way myself, but Galaxy is trash compared to 3DW, the only reason to think otherwise is if you're easily impressed by pretty spectacle and control gimmicks.

I hated Super Mario 64. The design for everything was all over the place. It had no consistency and the level design was hit-or-miss throughout the game. Nintendo is being smart in sticking to 2D because they cannot make a 3D level to save themselves.

3D World was hugely superior to Sunshine.
This is from someone who isn't blinded by nostalgia. I played Sunshine about 6 months before 3DW came out. It's good, but it really isn't as good as people make it out to be. Way too much doing shit that just isn't Mario.

No it isn't. Both 3D Land and 3D World are officially part of the mainline "Super Mario" series because they're platformers made by EAD.

This is just stupid. This mentality of "Mario can only do the things Mario has already done" is exactly what led us to where we are now with this NSMB nonsense.
Linear levels piss me off. Galaxy was at least playable for me because it had good level design, but I didn't like how most of it was just a hallway with platforms. 3D World is terrible, the movement systems don't feel as good and it's so damn linear it has a damn flagpole and timer, leaving barely anything to explore. It's basically the NSMB series in 3D. It's not objectively bad, I just don't like it.
