OoT is my favorite game, but I wouldn't recommend the original to anyone anymore, the FPS is much smoother on 3DS but some scenes have a bit worse atmosphere but you wont notice that your first time playing anyways.

In terms of crastmanship, the game is nigh flawless.
The only legit complaint anyone could have, is that it's too easy. But even that isn't a real "flaw" of the game.
The music, the graphics, the story, the characters, the pacing, the sense of satisfaction from beating levels and bosses, the sense of completion finishing all the quests. Everything was flawlessly executed. And the game still has appeal to this day. Over 20 years later.
IMO, it's the "greatest game ever".
