Civilization VI offers new ways to engage with your world: cities now physically expand across the map, active research in technology and culture unlocks new potential, and competing leaders will pursue their own agendas based on their historical traits as you race for one of five ways to achieve victory in the game.

EXPANSIVE EMPIRES:
See the marvels of your empire spread across the map like never before. Each city spans multiple tiles so you can custom build your cities to take full advantage of the local terrain.
ACTIVE RESEARCH:
Unlock boosts that speed your civilization’s progress through history. To advance more quickly, use your units to actively explore, develop your environment, and discover new cultures.
DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY:
Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game, from primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations.
COMBINED ARMS:
Expanding on the “one unit per tile” design, support units can now be embedded with other units, like anti-tank support with infantry, or a warrior with settlers. Similar units can also be combined to form powerful “Corps” units.
ENHANCED MULTIPLAYER:
In addition to traditional multiplayer modes, cooperate and compete with your friends in a wide variety of situations all designed to be easily completed in a single session.
A CIV FOR ALL PLAYERS:
Civilization VI provides veteran players new ways to build and tune their civilization for the greatest chance of success. New tutorial systems introduce new players to the underlying concepts so they can easily get started.

My favorite part of the trailer was all the wonderful gameplay footage, because this is a video game that's coming out in less than 6 months so there would naturally be plenty to show off!

Thank god it wasn't trying to emulate all the shitty movie teaser trailers that are vague backdrops with evocative orchestration music and completely unrepresentative of the actual style/atmosphere/tone of the game!

POST WISHLISTS

>Civilizations / Leaders
Judea & King Solomon (I know Solomon may not have been a real person, but Dido is in Civ V)
Holy Roman Empire (>impyling) & Charlemagne, seriously where the fuck are they in Civ V?
Mussolini & Italian Empire -- Italy has never been featured outside of Venice and Rome

>Gameplay elements
Improve the diplomacy system. Civ V's is so basic and I don't really understand why some A.I. leaders just suddenly accept your friendship after years of denying it.

Multiple leaders per civ. Rome has Julius Caesar, Augustus, Marcus Aurelius, tons of other choices, I hated how Civ V only allowed one leader per civ. Tons of other civs could benefit from this, France can have Napoleon and Louis XIV.

Some gameplay element about philosophy. I feel like philosophy has never been a part of civ while nearly every other historical topic has.

>>337239636
Teddy would get Big stick diplomacy as his power and the rough riders as his unit. Don't know how they could work, but it would definitely be more focused on colonialism / imperialism than the usa has been before. Personally would like Andrew Jackson or Trump

>“Every leader is assigned one historical agenda based on something they did while ruling their nation in actual history,” Beach explains. “Let’s take a leader who built a whole bunch of wonders. In our universe, that leader is going to feel like he’s better than anyone else in world history at building wonders, and that should be reflected every time they are in a Civilization game. Wonder obsessed. So that civilization will get a bonus toward building wonders, but they also get an obsessive personality where he will get angry if anyone else is building more wonders than they are. So you might have a strategy where you always go for Stonehenge and Hanging Gardens so you grab those right away. If this guy is next to you and he sees you doing this, he’s going to be up in arms and invading your borders."

I feel like Civ needs more villain leaders. Stalin should also be a leader imo, maybe Mao. To me, its not about how shitty or great of a leader they were, but how influential they were in history. I hate how many literally whos civ v had and how civ v forced diversity at the cost of removing completely important figures

>In previous iterations of the series, certain systems were left out of the initial release, which were then added in through subsequent expansions. Beach told us, however, that all of the major systems — including espionage, religion, tourism, archaeology, and trade routes — will be in place at launch. He admits that some will be more fleshed out than others, still leaving room for later additions, but the basics will be there. Beach cited his team’s experience on Civ V’s expansions as ideal preparation for tackling the core game’s entirety.

Why it looks like phone-level graphics? Why is everything colored like little kids toys?

Sure, Im glad to hear that they got inspired by, for example, Endless Legend and introduced cities covering few hexes and that army combination (something that should be done years ago) but Civ V was pretty overall, while this one looks like phone port.

Disgusting.

Not to mention that it will probably be playable after two expansions.

>He admits that some will be more fleshed out than others, still leaving room for later additions, but the basics will be there.
So confirmed half baked at release? Not that is a surprise for a new Civ game.
>>
>>337241045
The Russian Empire and the USSR are completely different civs. Byzantium and the Roman Empire are closer to being the same civ than those and they're separated.

You could easily have the Russian Empire with Catherine the Great while also having the USSR with Stalin.

Communist China and the Chinese Empire as well.

Which reminds me, another civ I'd like to see is Tibet before Communist China. The Dalai Lama, whichever one you consider the most important, would be the leader.

By this time next year, Civ 6 will mostly likely be the most played 4x in the world.

Firaxis would have to fuck up something major for this not to be inevitable (see BE).

WISHLIST COMING THROUGH

Multiple leaders, from multiple eras, per civ. Alternatively, have some different core major civs, with sub-civs each with their leader.

Set the pace for each era. Like, if you want short antiquity, but a long-ass renaissance period, before quickly wrapping up the modern times, the ability to set it in advance would be welcome, and help make the game more playable until they release the now traditional "we fucked up this time period, so let's make it interesting now" expansion.

Future stretching more than two techs beyond modern day. Say what you will about Call to Power, but it did great with allowing seamless transition from modern era to beyond, with interesting things like magrail-supported fusion battletanks, orbital and underwater cities, ecoterrorist city annihilators and things like that. A future that's not "get fusion plants and that one mech unit, use nuclear dissuasion/annihilation, and build your victory condition" immediatly would be nice.
