Anyhow personally I prefer the cleaner art, what I don't like about the Super is the aggressive use of up to 5 tone shading for things like skin and hair.

Budokai 3 and Infinite World (aka Budokai 3.5) are best for Budokai-style PS2 games.
Tenkaichi 2 and 3 are best for Tenkaichi-style PS2 games.
Budokai 3 has MUCH better story mode than Infinite World.
The same applies to Tenkaichi 2 having a MUCH, MUCH BETTER and more intricate story mode than Tenkaichi 3.
Basically play those 4 but start with Budokai 3, then go Infinite World then move to Tenkaichi 2 then Tenkaichi 3.
Shin Budokai Another Road (PSP game) for a pretty sweet story mode as well (Boo Saga in Future Trunks' timeline) with Budokai-style gameplay.
Xenoverse is it's own thing and it does some things better and some things worse so no it's not "better" in that it can serve as a replacement. They all have their own strong and weak points.
I also heartily recommend Burst Limit and Raging Blast on PS3/X360 for pretty sweet story modes.
Burst Limit continues Budokai-style gameplay while Raging Blast continues Tenkaichi-style gameplay.
Raging Blast 2 has no story mode at all but has more character so if you only care about SP campaign then you can safely skip it.
Kinect, Ultimate Tenkaichi (which ironically has nothing to do with Tenkaichi games and even had completely different title in Japan that was changed in the west only for brand recognition) and Battle of Z are utter irredeemable trash, skip those.
