Faggots like you are the reason Uncharted 4 ended so shit. Literally no-fun-allowed faggots.

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy

To be fair it did kinda come out of the blue since all other games (except for some parts of the time travel game) had done a "perfectly reasonable explanation plot twist"

Prequel trilogy.

I thought Miracle Mask was okay though.
>>
>>337208001
>play through Uncharted
>big reveal towards the end of the game with the OC donut steel zombies from I Am Legend
>trapped in a dilapidated nazi bunker with those things
>didn't touch the game for 2 months until I forced myself to go through that area because fuck that spooky shit in my light hearted Indiana Jones jungle slaughter simulator
>>
>>337208232
Miracle Mask wasn't absurdly retarded like the other two, but it was so fucking predictable and had a bunch of little retardations that added up to make it shit.
>oh shit the amusement park is empty now
>what happened?
>there was actually an abandoned amusement park that looked exactly the fucking same on the other side of this tower that nobody knew about, that's it
>>
Perfect Dark
>>
>>337206675
It was so cool until that point. Do the other games do that too? Haven't bothered to finish the trilogy because of it.
>>
>>337208369
Raiders of the Lost Ark literally ended with god melting the faces of Nazis.

Nazis being cursed by gold to turn into demon vampire zombies seems appropriate for the nature of the franchise and it's impressive, in a way, that they still managed to sneak Nazis into a modern day adventure game.
>>
Uncharted's zombie mutants were gay. It was relatively grounded in reality until they showed up. It was a fun adventure game reminiscent of Indiana Jones and other epic adventures. Then they had to shit it up because M M M MUH ZOMBIE AUDIENCE. Not a game killer because it's still comfy in the jungle, but super jarring.

Layton "mysteries" are almost always bullshit twists

>Hurrr everyone was high on fumes
>>
>>337208736
Supernatural twist how? It was basically just an edgier Curious Village.
>>
>>337207803
I'd hardly categorize all pulp fiction as one genre and saying it's famous for having supernatural elements is an even sillier generalization.
>>
>>337208585
It was definitely a good twist imo, but I just couldn't handle having a spooky level tossed at me at this point of the game. Actually I think it's pretty awesome that they made a spooky level that late in the game after you've been in your comfort zone of mowing down hundreds of goons and mercenaries.
>>
>>337208837
yeah but they were at least grounded in reality (granted i havent played the games the anons in this thread were complaining about). its ridiculous bullshit to think someone built an entire town of robots for his daughter to live in secretly but it was still just a very rich man who made robots for his daughter without any voodoo magic bullshit.
>>
>>337208736
Not really supernatural but really fucking stupid
>>
>>337208653
>It was a fun adventure game reminiscent of Indiana Jones
You mean the series that routinely features supernatural elements? Wow.
>>
Confused why people keep saying 'muh indiana jones'.
There was supernatural shit in every film.
>>
>>337208837
Yeah, but in the end of Azran Legacy they reveal that the super-advanced long forgotten race of Azrans really existed and they built machines to do their dirty work. Eventually the machines wanted equal rights and rebelled and the game ends with Layton stopping the machines with the power of friendship from nuking the entire world.

So the twist was there was actually no twist at all.
>>
>>337208850
>>337209076
i thought we were including magic under the umbrella. if we're talking strictly ghosts and god then yeah youre right
>>
>>337208972
Good thing the word "adventure" is included then huh? I mean, talking specifically about a genre that was popular in pulp magazines during their heyday would be silly right?
>>
>>337207623
Man that game was fun and you always knew it was something kinda paranormal but then it just turned into a weird alien shitfest or something. I don't even remember the last half was so confusing.
>>
>>337209035
I honestly replay that part every once and a while, I don;t know, it's just so much fun.
Same with Urban Warfare, the fucking color pallete on that chapter is amazing.
>>
>>337209158
It wasn't magic either though. Just slightly elaborate illusions and tricks (so exactly like magic).

Not a game, but appearance of magical cloning machine killed all the enjoyment I had from this movie in seconds, turning it from pretty good to absolute shit.
>>
>>337209071
I think it's just as easy to believe that voodoo magic caused everything as it is to believe that an entire village was hallucinated synchronously by a buttload of people high on fumes or that the entire town was a super secret government-led drug experiment and everyone was allergic to silver or whatever the fuck that bullshit was in Layton vs Wright
>>
>>337206675
Indiana Jones
>>
>>337207734

That's a dude in a suit, not a Yeti.
>>
>>337209158
It was magic in the sense that sleight of hand card tricks are magic so it was a lot more grounded in reality
Still fucking bullshit, though.
>>
>>337209263
Yeah, there was a bit of a paranormal from the start when the guy kills somebody else under hypnosis, but when you have matrix fights in the streets flinging helicopters it just becomes silly.

Literally the only problem with this game. All the stuff is still great and the real twist is STILL one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in a game... but they really had to work to win me back after busting out all that morphogenetic fuckery after an otherwise coherent mystery.
>>
>>337209263
Basically the Living Embodiment of the Internet, a Immortal Mayan Death Priest, and a zombie re-enact a fight scene from The Matrix.
>>
>>337209035
Yeah, Uncharted was my first PS3 game and I was only 12 or 13 at the time and the Bunker level stopped me from playing for weeks. same thing happened with Uncharted 2's yeti's in the ice cave 2 years later
>>
>>337207126
If anything that game didn't go supernatural enough, after having so much shit that was completely magical it just goes to slightly zombified people.
>>
>>337208585
None of the uncharted games had anything supernatural, it was all bio shit and drug water
>>
>>337209263
The last half was where the main character fights the ancient Mayan witch doctor faggot in zero gravity while running from the physical manifestation of the internet with the aid of some secret cult that is comprised of a bunch of fucking hobos, all after dying earlier in the game and coming back to life with some fucking magic powers.

It sounds stupid awesome on paper but it's just stupid in practice.

>>337209507
>>337209450
Fuck I don't even remember that. All I can recall about then ending is fucking that girl and being in some snowy place (?). Fucking confusing mess of a game. I might have just thought it ended and stopped playing.
>>
The first two Uncharted games, for all the memeing, are well written genre games. For what they are, trope filled pulp adventure homages, they really do a good job of wrangling it all together.

3 is just a turd.
>>
>>337209621
They all (havnt played 4 yet) follow the same pattern.

> let's find some treasure
> oh shit, unexplained supernatural shit, how is this possible?
> a semi scientific (but still completly fantastical) explanation for the supernatural occupancies, revelation that Badguy somehow knew all along and wanted to use this power for themselves.

An ancient mummy infecting people with some kind of insanity is still supernatural. As is "sap from the tree of life grants super strength and immortality" for the explanation of the Yeti's.

>>
>>337210262
I was really disappointed UC4 didn't have any supernatural stuff.
I mean by now it was kind of a staple to have weird enemies at the end, but instead we got the most predictable safe ending of the series.
Man I just wanted to see some pirate ghosts.

>complaining about mystical shit in Uncharted

Uncharted is literally ripped straight from Indiana Jones.

Every Indiana Jones has some aspect of mysticism or godly power. The Ark of the Covenant, the Shiva Stones or whatever, and the Holy Grail.

Expecting anything else was asking for it.
>>
>>337209974

The Henchman is UC3 had the ability to across massive distances instantly, he'd be across rooms or entire city squares just by stepping around a corner, seemed to imply he was one of the Djinn but unlike UC1 and 2, they never really explained that aspect of the guy, only his hallucination water gun.
>>
>>337206815

>>
>>337210452

But at least they finally explained Nathans motivation and at the end he finally grows up
>>
>>337211135
most fun gameplay though
>>
>>337207906
nigga I loved the game, it was hard tactics. it did take a lot of patience, the one thing that really turned me off it was the twist like three missions in that literally everyonje on your team is a fucking werewolf or vampire or a witch or some retarded shit
>>
>>337210394
I thought that game and its sequels (Still Life, I think?) were just such chores to play and not very fun. I remember a puzzle in one of the Still Lifes where I had to bake a cake for my dad based off of "grandma's riddle diary" or some horse shit.
>>
>>337209315
There was no army of clones, the narration is from Jackman's diary, he's bullshitting to make it seem like he didn't waste his lifetime not figuring out his rival was just using his twin brother.
>>
>>337211497
From what I remember, you literally have Herbert West himself, brah.
I don't know what you expected.
>>
>>337211707
I do remember that name, yes
>google the name
I had no fucking idea bro. lol. I may be the only person who went into that game without any inkling of what was going to occur, for three missions I thought it was just a rockin historically accurate WW2 strategy game with no bullshit, such a refreshing rarity from japan.
then WHAM, you're the teen wolf squad
>>
>>337211962
and come to think of it, valkyria chronicles did the exact same fucking thing to me, only it pulled it halfway through the game
>>
>>337206675

The only Uncharted without supernatural shit was the Vita one, and it's actually the worst plot twist of them all.

Didn't play 4 yet but I will soon.

I actually picked up Uncharted collection last week, never played the series before. I beat 1 this morning.

It was mediocre from the get go. It genuinely felt like a PS2 game from a mechanics standpoint. The shooting mechanics felt flat, the platforming elements were a joke and often stiff.

Frankly, there was barely anything resembling a story either. It felt like a rejected TNT pilot for The Librarian.

I hear 2 is when the series drastically picked up, but I have no idea how the fuck anyone could call UC1 fun. It fell to shit long before the cursed spaniard stuff. It's peaks after the jet ski waterfalls section and it wasn't very good up until then away.
>>

>>
>>337213465
I played the Uncharted Collection last week for the last time. Finished all 3 in a row. 1 is meh but 2 and 3 are fun. Don't expect incredible mechanics or anything but the ambiance and levels are pretty cool and they improved the gameplay just enough for it not to feel as outdated as 1 is.
