Cat and Owl are legitimate improvements. They're the best of their type since Gen 3.

I like the Owl a lot, because of the basic design and earthy colour.
I like the Cat because it has the tiger motif and is four-legged, but still sleek, unlike the previous two starters.
I dislike the Seal, because the colour scheme is gross, it has pretty much the same set of colours that Oshawott has, and the tail is too slender, making it look like a head with three legs.
The only water starter to pull off the pure white colour was Piplup, it's gross on Oshawott, and is the only issue I have with Froakie too.
Still at least they got 2/3 this time.
Of course this is just my opinion.
