I'd say that only applies when you're discovering new passage ways or ways into puzzles that you couldn't accomplish without a certain item. In essence, positive and fun kinds of backtracking.
I do not considering returning to rooms to scan for floating eyeballs that contain keys so you can fight the last boss to be good backtracking.
If they wanted to put a better seal on the finale boss they could have given you an option to collect portions of the key as you explore, rewarding aptitude for finding a more obscure item in areas before a list of hints were given later in the game.
Instead it's "look at this Not-X-ray visor, it will help you go back to the same places you've been to meticulously hunt for eyeballs.

I love the metroid series. I want to see a new good metroid game. Whether it's in 2D format or Prime format. I'm staying positive for federation force until i can try it for myself. This is tied for my number 1 favorite series of all time. I would like to see good discussion about it.

At this point I'll probably avoid Metroid threads for while and just go to Halo threads or Halo General is it doesn't turn into endless 343 hating. I don't care if Sakamoto is Producing them I just want a traditional Metroid that takes place after Fusion. I will probably return when the NX is reveal which is when things may hopefully become more positive in a Metroid thread. I just really hope Nintendo doesn't disappoint. In case you are not baiting, it was a very good FPS series for the n64 where you shoot dinosaurs with Plasma rifles and rocket launchers and other alien guns.
The last one came out in 2007 for the PC. It was very very bad and it basically killed the already dead at the time turok.
Turok revolution, a 6th gen game used to be my favorite in the series.
