Also I really like BD, though the rockets seemed nerfed to hell yet still rekt you on splash damage, and the latest update made long range firing with the Machine Gun/Pistol weapon almost impossible outside of single-tap firing

The sound design is completely fucked with digital distortion everywhere. ADS. Fucked up balance with OP hitscan enemies that slow the game down.
Generally, it's a silly and slightly fun diversion that ended up getting way too much attention and ended up flooding the scene with idiots that constantly nag for WAD compatibility.

It also ruins the balance and does horrible things to performance with the gratuitous gore.

Why compatibility is needed? Tonnes of Chaingun grunts make BD fucking hard especially if they're far away due to their natural range and added accuracy via BD, but that's pretty much the only issue.

Doom RPG + Doom RL Arsenal is pretty fun. Also get OBLIGE and make some random maps to go with.
I find that Brutal Doom is pretty overrated, it's okay but there's better gameplay mods that it overshadows

I've had the occasional missed "kill all the enemies" triggers or "cross trigger to activate X" triggers with BD, but that's been the worst I've seen.
Some maps are ridiculously hard sans saving thanks to BD, but that's not a mappers issue, yeah.
I like both Vanilla and BD, but have been playing BD a lot more lately for something new.
