an expensive ass CE makes a LE/"deluxe" edition look cheap in comparison to most consumers, diehard fans and retards alike will still buy it, but the real cash cow is how many people they convince to spend more than just the regular version, CE or not.
Welcome to the current state of the games industry. There are enough vapid people with loose wallets willing to buy a triple-priced version of a game they don't even know is good just to get a big box with a shitty statue, some trinkets, and some worthless digital skins, so publishers continue to make them. These wouldn't still be around (and still getting more ridiculous) if they didn't sell.
Best you can do is vote with your wallet by not buying into this shit, but it'll still sell to the majority anyway. Same shit with ridiculous pre-order bonuses. There's basically nothing you can do to stop it at this point since so many people have been conditioned to buy games they don't even know anything about yet.
