>Overwatch will be a thing of the past by the end of the year
So much potential wasted by putting a price tag on it

It's not the amount of money that will prevent people from buying it, it's just having to buy it at all
Because then there's that fear looming over you about "what if this game dies out? Then I wasted my money", that is what will prevent people from buying it, no one wants to just waste their money on something that has no guarantee it'll stay active.

Months from now players will have gotten bored and moved onto other games, making it take longer to find matches, which in turn causes more players to quit because they don't want to deal with having to wait five minutes to find a match.

This is why B2P multiplayer-only games are not a good investment on PC, without a steady flow of players there's no way to keep the game active in the long run when the majority of overwatch players get bored of it and/or move on to other things
This is why it's so sad to see blizzard slap a pricetag on such a great game, because all that does is waste the effort and money of anyone who bought it.
>>
You're delusional to think this.
>>
OW will be babby's first FPS like TF2 was for many of you. It'll be an entry FPS for a shitton of people. You forget what the "Blizzard" brand is. There's people out there who've been playing nothing but WoW, SC2, Hots, Heartstone and D3 for the past 10 years. People who don't know anything about Steam ( or any other digital services ) and absolutely do not care about PC Gaming.

So yeah, as much as I hate what OW is, it'll be popular for a long time, will set a standards for better or worse for the FPS genre and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.
>>
Overwatch is dead because they tried to advertise it as a first person MOBA, and it just doesn't have the depth or replayability value for such a thing.

I don't see anybody but the youngest of kiddos paying cash money for skins on a game that they're going to get bored with in a month.

A price tag is good.

F2P and what came with it helped kill TF2

Nah, Valve abandoning TF2 is what has killed it. F2P obviously brought along a lot of shitters and made the hat market a huge thing, but it also pushed a lot of life into the community competitive scene. The comp mode that Valve is only now pushing out after years of talking about it is too little, too late. If they had made the push to F2P and introduced the comp mode roughly around the same time, TF2 would be a pretty substantial force to be reckoned with rather than the bloated, unfocused garbage that it is now. The game is dead because the people who have been playing it for a long time have just run out of reasons to play and are dying for something fresh.

Source: I run in the comp scene and Overwatch is going to steal a lot of people when it comes out. Not sure if they'll stay gone, but people are dying for something new.

yeah but tf2 was $20. I would be more than willing to pay that for OW, 60 is too steep for what it is.

It's not dying. It's just fucking cancer to play on. The community is so fucking annoying.

just how poor ARE pcfats?

the game is $40, that's nothing. almost every game that has been released in the past 10 years has bee $60 dollars. if this game was free-to-play it'd be just as shit as league and dota and all of those other chinkgrinders.
>>

Did you even read the OP?

This isn't about how much it costs, this is about wasting money
Nothing you would understand though, since you buy consoles

OW is 40 and you forget that TF2 was incredibly barebones as well at launch

Tfw I bought the origins edition only to fins the collectors edition for $100 and bought that too. Guess I'm going to give my spare key to a friend.

>>
>>337165420
It's more about Valve talking about things they want in the game and then completely dropping off the face of the earth to go play with its new favorite children, CS and DOTA, which are pushing hard into the comp e-sports thing. If Blizzard wants OW to succeed, what they need to do is just interact with the community and pump out content like Valve did with TF2 at the start. But they probably won't because neo-Blizzard is shit.

I. JUST. POSTED. THE. FIRST. FUCKING. SENTENCE.

The OP is complaining about the procing of the game, no matter how you spin it.

>hurr wasted money
You only waste money because it has a PRICE and even then if you get $40 worth of time it really isn't a waste now is it?
>>
>>337166074
>>Fewer different classes than TF2 loadouts
TF2 has 9 classes and 12 different loudouts

Overwatch has 21 characters as of right now that all play differently.
>>
>>337166270
>I. JUST. POSTED. THE. FIRST. FUCKING. SENTENCE.
Reading one sentence is not the same as reading the entire OP
>>
>>337166409
Yet the first sentence should set up the premise for the entire post, which it does.

Splatoon is a multiplayer only FPS class shooter but what you are predicting hasn't happened to it yet.

This is a casual game casuals and they don't rip through content as fast as the no-life kings. With a steady release schedule and some fun cross overs I think it would stay fresh enough to make its money back.
>>
>>337166606
Splatoon is a console game, you're required to play it in order to make that regret go away
>>
Don't you think the devs have already thought of that? I don't mean to knock ya but you're an amateur and even you see this as a potential problem. I think the experienced businessmen and video game producers would see this coming.

This is actually a pretty reasonable excuse to say the game should be F2P.
I still think it's wrong, but I get where you're coming from at least, instead of just being a poorfag.

Blizzard said there would be addition content to the game free of charge later on down the line. I could be wrong or it could be exaggerated, and if it's completely true I'm sure there would be paid expansions too. It might not keep the game alive for a long time, but it'll last at least half a year depending on the content added and how frequently.

I can't imagine it'd be like SFV where even new DLC characters only bring a small number of players back, and the rest of the time it's a ghost town, until they stop releasing content.

My guess is this game will go exactly like TF2 and that one game with the legacy server issues that I'm totally forgetting right now, it will live for a long time, pretty standard vanilla, will improve with expansions midway down the line and become borderline cancer later on, how long it lives after that is anyone's guess.

Nope. Standard edition is STILL $40 from Blizzard themselves, not to mention how cheap you can get a key from other sites. Consolefags need not apply.
