UHD is 3840x2160. The TVs you buy are UHD; 3840x2160, there is no actual consumer 4K TV you're buying, it's all mislabeled marketing.
4K is a cinema standard for mastering, it is 4096x2160.
This is all very similar to the 2K standard of last gen in which the cinema standard 2K was mastering at 2048×1080 but consumer TVs had 1920x1080

It's not even that, people have been equating resolution to a console's capabilities. Like those U faggots waving around 1080p60 over PS4/X1 games as to insinuate the system's powerful enough to run the same games.
Even the original XBox could output 720p and 1080i. I'm sure PS2 supported 1080i in a Gran Turismo game or so as well. GameCube stood its ground for other reasons in terms of power.
