The main problem is that an MMORPG requires free movement, and "walking" in VR without actually walking, for example using an analog stick, tends to induce feelings of nausea.
There's that one treadmill-like thing that was made specifically for walking in VR, but it's fucking expensive.

How's about something like Freedom Wars, where you're in a cell and can teleport around the complex, and you team up with other inmates when you get sent out to murder monsters? That way, not seeing too many other players but lots of npcs would feel natural.
