why don't you buy your videogames and let others buy their videomovies?

:)
>>
>>337070024
It's like watching a gameplay on YouTube
>>
It's nothing like an interactive movie.

Life is Strange, Until Dawn, The Wolf Among Us etc are interactive movies

Uncharted is as much an interactive movie as The Last of Us.
>>
as long as it plays well I wouldn't mind if a game ends up having a lot of cutscenes as long as the story/scene direction is good. that being said uncharted has none of that
>>
>>337069210
Because you might as well just make a movie.

Having it completely on the rails and being impossible to fail just adds to this.
>>
>>337070024
Movies are cheaper than video games anon
>>
It's not bad in and of itself, it may actually be quite a nice spectacle, but it's not what personally I look for when I want to play a game. Other people want more interaction and much less watching and quicktime events.

What's bad is when people shit on each other for being not interested or interested in it.

Because we've had too many "interactive movie" games in the past decade. It's fucking old and dull; it's a tired trick that was only enjoyable because it was novel for a brief time. How someone can enjoy playing a film with the occasional button prompt is beyond me.

Uncharted isn't even interesting looking; it's just a lame action adventure movie about treasure. Whoopee-fucking-doo. What a boundary-pushing piece of greatness.

Because it's unengaging and boring.

Although I haven't seen it, there is a way to make a game feel cinematic while still being good, but the problem with games like Uncharted is everyone has the same experience, you get led by the hand through a series of set pieces with some depth-less shooting/stealth/puzzles while the story progresses.

I gave Uncharted 2 a chance and actually was somewhat enjoying it, that was until I reached the part where you're jumping from car to car. This was the point where it became so obvious that the gameplay was completely superficial, instead of being a cool free-form gunfight, you were forced to go to whichever car they wanted you to go to, because the game was scripted to kill you if you didn't do exactly what they wanted you to do, when they wanted you to do it.

It's okay to like these games as a bit of mindless fun, but by no stretch of the imagination are they good games, if games at all.

there isn't. There's a certain kind of investment you get when you play one of these "games" that you don't get from just watching a movie. Even if it's liner as hell, even if you have to try to fuck it up, it's a kind of experience unique to the "interactive digital media" medium.

I can understand people getting twitchy when you call these "games", because that implies something that includes a loss state and some degree of competition (even if it's only against the rules of the game itself). But there's nothing "wrong" with being an interactive movie.

number one straw man argument ITT
>"if you hate Uncharted then obviously you're a PC gamer"

I own a PS4 and the last time I had a gaming capable PC, Burning Crusade just came out. Bloodborne is an amazing exclusive title and IMO one of the best games ever. With that out of the way, here's what I think of Uncharted:

You play some Brendan Fraser asshole who makes stupid quips while running away from scripted avalanches or waterfalls, these scenes are occasionally interrupted by gameplay sections where it's like Gears of War or any other 3rd person shooter. The plot is exciting if you think the kind of shit Hollywood effortlessly cranks out every year like The Mummy or Pirates of the Caribbean is the pinnacle of storytelling. Metal Gear has cutscenes galore but if it were converted to an anime series it would still be pretty good. That said, Metal Gear's story is so deeply intertwined with its video game status it wouldn't work any other way. Plus the gameplay is far from bad and takes advantage of the medium. Something like a revolver spinning cowboy and a telepathic guy in a gas mask would seem very adolescent in a movie or book but in MGS it works.

Uncharted's story is cliche garbage by any standard. All it has is production values but even then it's just a movie. If the gameplay had greater scope, something open world let's say, the technical excellence might be impressive but we're all used to stunning graphics in a non-interactive scene. So how is this fresh or exciting in the slightest? The gameplay has just enough content to earn better scores than a game like The Order: 1886. It's a decent game with zero new ideas at best. The hyperbole surrounding it is just fucking ridiculous.

Sure, it is a rare fetish, we have to unite so I try sharing what I have when interest appears.

Because developers like the idea of videomovies that require less effort to make then videogames, since they don't have to worry as much about putting that meddlesome 'gameplay' stuff in when they could just do QTEs.

And as such, we also don't like seeing devlopers trying to turn our videogames into videomovies because of over-hyped games like these. We kicked Metroid Other M to the curb for trying to do that.

It also tends to turn developers like Naughty Dog into egotistical assholes who think they're 'out-grown' making games like Crash or Jak, and think if they keep making these videomovies that they can become a film studio instead, also known as David Cage Syndrome.

Christ, even Sly Cooper 4's final boss had more gameplay.

I'd rather play games that are designed around what makes this hobby unique (gameplay) instead of games that poorly imitate other forms of media.

If I wanted to vegetate in front of a screen, I'd watch TV or browse the internet instead.
>>

I don't like movies

I thought this game was supposed to look good.

There's enough gameplay in Uncharted you cuck. It's not like a shitty Telltale game or a walking simulator.
>>
>>337075775
Name a better modern action adventure in the style of uncharted that is more entertaining than playing Uncharted 2.
>>
You know why I love Uncharted? It turns PC cucks into booty blasted kiddies.

>Dude , i hate so much "cinematic" or "interactive" games, it's like watching a movie and you are not actually playing, so dumb and boring, so shitty.
>>

>>IT'S JUST AN INTERACTIVE MOVIE!

Only those who never played a Uncharted game says this shit. People like that are just shitposters and trolls.

Unharted is literally nothing but gameplay and gameplay refined to a T with diversity to keep the player occupied and interested.

In what way is Uncharted on Crushing more of a movie than fucking Ace Combat WHERE THERE'S FUCKING LOCK ON AND AN ABUNDANCE OF MISSILES or fucking Persona where the gameplay is literally "use what's the enemy's weakness" and flip through menus of visual novel bullshit

are there spoilers already?

Lol at >platforming
If you call the uncharted or AC type moving around a level platforming you might be retarded.

Not defending witcher. Just saying there is zero platforming in Uncharted.

Yep, the franchise does.

Finally.

the collectibles do unlock stuff like tweaks, skins and render modes.

also multiplayer still does count because it gives a whole other games worth of content for those who are done with the story. it might not be replayability in a sense relating to the campaign but it does add value, content and a reason to keep playing after the credits roll.
>>
>>337074371

what's he got to be mad about? he gets to play the game while you sit in the corner and stroke your tiny pee pee like a good little cuck, this is an Uncharted thread and if you weren't mad you wouldn't be here.
>>
>>337070470
But Uncharted isn't just an occasional button prompt. You're thinking of Telltale games.
>>
What is it that makes it actually not a game?
I'm not talking about how good it is, whatever, but it's a game. Don't be stupid people.
I enjoy it, so I would call it a "great game". Most of that stuff is taste. There can be some objective game design good/bad choices, but overall it's a subjective choice whether someone considers a game "good" or not.
>>
No sense of challenge unless you're handicapped or willing to gimp yourself.

Gameplay is filler and standardised so it's easier for the audience to take in.

Narrative is simple and less interesting than a TV show, movie or novel.

It feels like a product that you're meant to consume and forget about, like a Marvel movie. No lasting effect, no ongoing appeal unless you (for some reason) care about the story, no replay value.
>>
>>337093473
>like a Marvel movie
I'm okay with this comparison. It's not great art, but it's entertaining enough and you can see why people enjoy it so much.

Some people have higher standards for both video games and comic book movies. Why would we want forgettable shit like Age of Ultron when we could have more shit like Dredd.
