Working on the Mad Max plat, I'm one more sess away, unless I get dicked out of one trophy that's notoriously glitchy. Great game btw, a real unexpected 10/10 for me.

Because they are useless and a cheap way to make people spend more time playing games.
I much prefer the game itself rewarding you for doing challenging things, for example completing MGS3 with no alerts gives you stealth camo, which is a cool item you can have fun with.
what killed it for me was the fact that you can fake trophies/achievements on the ps3/360, so now with the ps4andx1 some people have overinflated profiles from the ps3/360 era

I've always went for them since I used to go for unlockables in games when I was a kid, unlockables like MGS headbands etc. I just like the challenge but some achievements are fucking stupid and not worth going for.
