What is a good RTS where I can build up a group and send people off to gather iron and copper and all that good shit? I can't find my copy of AoE2 or this other egyptian game like it, but I loved both of those.

Civ isn't an rts, but assuming you want medievalfantasy aoe2 isn't bad. Warcraft 3 is good as well.
If you don't mind scifi then go Supreme Commander.
If you like Wh40k/want to get into it try Dawn of War 1 dark crusade/soulstorm.
If you like ww1/ww2 type stuff try Company of Heroes.
If you don't like at least one of these, chances are you don't like RTS and should try either a Total War game, Grand Strategy or a 4x.
Play the stronghold series. I was hesitant at first but I fell in love with the first and am on Crusader now.

They were basically made in order of quality. First one is the best, then crusaders and so on.
Some people will argue that crusaders is better than 1, but I preferred 1.I like 2 because I decided to be lazy and type my real name when it asked for a name. Then when I got into the main menu it went "Greetings, Lord Stephen!" and totally sold me on the game.

Empire Earth 2 is pretty neat with resource management. You have about a dozen resources in total if not more. And some become obsolete, meaning you have to find something even better as you tech up.
Like saltpeter becomes useless at one point. And you can put people in your warehouses so you gain a bonus to resources gained.
Are there any that have been made recently? These old games are great, but I'd like to have one that looks as good as it plays.
