I just finished this game (with the Helios ending). Jesus, it is easy one of the best games I ever played in my life.

Also, the decision in the ending really fuck up my mind. I took my time to think in the consequences of each choice.

Anyway, ask me anything.
>>
Helios ending is the best. Other two just set the stage for all the exact same shit to happen again. Tong is a fucking retard.
>Hurr let's suddenly cripple the entire world's infrastructure. Millions of people will die in the ensuing chaos and humanity will eventually rebuild anyway, but FUCK IT.
>>
>>337028602
The problem is that you will destroy the corruption, but in consequence you will make born the "dark ages" again, but if you do that, the humanity will learn and become more powerfulin the future.
>>
Helios ending was honestly the best one.
>>
>>337028602
Also, I think that the story of the game goes far beyond of just "good or bad ending". I think that it's just about take decisions and assume the consequences.
>>
>>337029112
You became the most powerful badass in the world in that ending. The problem is that the humanity will be governed by a machine which attend everyone like machines too. And a world like that is a very unhappy words. Everyone will be safe, but unhappy.
>>
>>337029351
The entire reason you merge with Helios is because JC provides the human element that gives Helios understanding of uniquely human issues/needs.
>>
>>337029351
No, by merging with JC Helios gets a human perspective to help him make decisions.
>>
>>337029553
>>337029641
So, in that case. That's true, It's the best ending.
>>
>>337028418
What are you going to play next?
>>
>>337029806
I was thinking in playing Invisible War. People says that it's not a bad game, but very disappointment one. I will play it by my own, and draw my conclusions later.
>>
I never played a game with a story so deep as Deus Ex. Geez, and the fans of Undertale think that the story if their game is "deep". In what world they live?
>>
>>337028418
Why do people on /v/ say that this game is only loved because of nostalgia ?
Finished it recently. It is currently one of my favorites.

Problem is that machines still can make mistakes, and they often cannot detect that they are making a mistake.
Helios ending is perfect because the machine in question realizes it may screw things up at some point and seeks guidance of a human it deemed worthy. With JC on board (we know he cannot be corrupted as he does not seek power or money, you can cross out him fucking the world over) it can change the world for the better.

I would, but that's because as a player I can separate myself from the main character and make a wider judgement. Besides, my preexisting beliefs bias me away from the Helios ending, whereas that may be different for other players.
>>
>>337035315
Don't be like that. If subjectivity is turning 0->1 into a somewhat fluctuating floating point number, then with enough parallel processing, roughly on par with the brain. True AI should be doable with enough decisions.
>>
>>337035536
I think JC needs you lol.

Subjectivity is not a function of floating point calculations. It's the product of experience. It's experience that shades the grey areas.

Where are you again? The second mission, the one where you have to destroy a generator in a warehouse? You will find leg augment in the basement, this is propably the best aug in the game. Augs in general make you overpowered. Turn it on and you can go fast.
Yeah, the ai is dumb and very basic, but the fun really does come from exploring, finding neat little details and figuring ways to deal with missions. And as a bonus you have a conspirational orgy for a story.

These anons speak the truth. GMDX is the only mod worthy of this game. It's better if you play it unmodded the first time so you can appreciate both its strength and flaws, but you can safely use GMDX as a first time and you will get a near-perfect game.

Here's a series of videos showing you the changes they've done. Be careful though, there may be some minor spoilers about areas and characters.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKHPtfammNY

Revision is shit, not entirely sure about shifter but I've seen quite a few things I didn't like at all about it.

Also Helios is objectively the best ending. Humans aren't ready (yet) to rule themselves. We need someone else to do it for us, and in the absence of God, we create it ourselves.

The point is that every "boss" fight can be solved by saying the killphrase or just running away in Simon's case. Not getting locked in a small arena and duke it out you two. IIRC you only have to kill Navarre, you can walk away from everything else. Just that, that you can walk away from Simons without killing him makes it a better boss fight than say, Berret or what's his name. Simons even tries to kill you again later.

Godammit. It's a sci-fi videogame called Xenogears.

There are some similarities with both Karellen, but it's mostly just a reference. The game does shares some themes from Childhood's End and Evangelion, but goes in its own different direction about them.

I'd like to see a game explicitly address this some time. Give the player the choice, let them feel all good about themselves for being merciful, and then at the end, kick them in the nuts with a
>your enemies are still alive, stupid

Kinda like AC: Brotherhood started with Ezio's home town getting BTFO by the pope's private army after he spared the pope in the previous game due to having grown "above petty revenge" or w/e.

But then as a consequence of player choice.
>>
>>337048907
Not him, but I watched that series a while ago even though I hate LPers. The videos themselves aren't all that interesting to me as it's just playing the whole game, but at the end he stops playing and just talks for 5 or 10 minutes about many different topics somewhat featured in the game like religion, philosophy, government, templars, illuminati etc. It's pretty interesting and the guy is clearly well informed.

>>337049002

Meh. I haven't bothered to play Xenogears. Maybe my opinion will change if I do, but then I'm the guy who got bored of Final Fantasy Tactics.

Or, to get a bit back on topic, I remember Human Revolution had a character hire me for a hit, and I, being the pussy that I am, was like "is there no other way" and they were like "nope" and I was like, damn, but I'll live with the consequences of my actions.

And then they were all "unless..." and they ruined it.

You shouldn't be able to let everyone live and still stop them being a problem. If I can make everything work out perfectly for everyone and keep a clean conscience while doing it, I don't really feel as if I'm making choices. Sometimes, someone just wants someone else dead and a pacifist should have no choice but to decline.
