What's a fun and comfy GBA game I can emulate right now?
Feeling quite down today and want something to cheer me up.

For anybody else that feels like emulating a gba game try Bomberman Tournament. Pretty cool and comfy most of the time.

Also, Gameboy/GBA games thread if you'd care for one.

This is autism. GBA emulation is 100% accurate and playing it on a big screen is superior to playing it on the original GBA with it's terrible screen and shitty tinny audio.
>>
>>337026229
Why is Pokemon always the first response in these threads?
>>
>>337027572
Because it was that good.
>>
>>337027459
>GBA emulation is 100% accurate
Tell that to Mother 3's rhythm combos.

>playing it on a big screen is superior to playing it on the original GBA
Unless you want portability. Besides, some games are just more enjoyable from a pick-up-and-play perspective. Not to mention, the game is designed to work on that hardware. Call it autism if you wish, but playing games in anything other than the original hardware slightly devaluates whatever criticism you might come up with. You're just not having the intended experience.
>>
GBA is quite an odd console. The GBA had killer beat em up line-up. GBAs also had licensed games that were pretty good. Sega's ports of Genesis games for some odd reason played and sounded better than Nintendo's ports of SNES games in quality.

Try these out.
Gunstar Super Heroes
Guardian Heroes Advance
Double Dragon Advance
TMNT
River City Ransom Advance
Final Fight One
Dragon Ball Advance Adventure
Shining Soul I&II
Phantasy Star
Gekido Advance
Shining Force
Jacky Chan
Mr. Driller
Puyo Pop
Rhythm Heaven

Those are my favorite games for easy pickup and play.

That's because the GBA's soundchip is better than what the Genesis offered, but much worse than the SNES'

so it's impossible to play a pc game the way the developers intended then. not to mention all the different variations in types of tv you can use with a console.

Arguably, it is.

There's always an optimal choice, but it's much more minor than choosing between playing on, say, a SNES or playing SNES games through your Wii on a plasma TV or whatever the hell.

That's undeniable, yes. You can argue it's a better option currently, and depending on the case I would agree with you or not. Do you think Doom's 240x240 textures were designed to be displayed on a 1080p monitor? You might be giving id Soft way too much credit.

How about one of the best games on the system and also the only RTS on the system?

I'll never stop praising this bizarre thing. Its just like the big boy RTS games, just on the GBA. I'm fucking pissed I didnt get to play this when I was a kid, I would have loved it.

I did have a GBA at one point, think I still have my SP somewhere though so I'm still able to play GBC/GBA games. But hey, it doesn't really matter the method you use as long as you enjoy playing.

>>337030320

MMZ was my favourite series on GBA. I remember playing MMZ 3 on a plane ride. Wasn't much good though, only beat maybe 1 or 2 bosses.

>>
>>337030486
And much better ones, especially considering that the GBA entries of those franchises are generally considered to be sub-par when compared with previous entries.

It obviously wont be as smooth RTS as your favorites, but you will find it to be really competent RTS that suffers very little, considering the platform it is on. On the very least you will be amazed how it can even be a thing.

If someone is into emulating ROMs that's cool and all but why do they have to shit on those who like to play on the actual handheld?

The whole thing I like about handhelds is that I can play them wherever/whenever without sitting down at my computer or having a laptop on my lap, thus inabiling me from any other movement.

I can play Pokemon with one hand thanks to the L=A setting while I'm getting a glass of water from the fridge.

Hell, I bring it to work so I can bust out some microgames as a report generates.

When I was a moneygrubbing teen I sold all my systems that could play GBA games. I regret that every day. Man, your GBA looks like new. Mine spent a week with my little brother and he returned it full of scratches and without the battery cover. A year later he "lost" my GBA SP. I fucking hate him so much.

Welp, now I feel the overwhelming need to buy a new GBA SP.
