I would like the studio to ask why there's such a massive dislike of what people have seen. I don't really understand what the issue is and I'd like to know because I'm stumped. Space and advanced technology seem like the next step in the timeline of Call of Duty games, so what's the issue?

Did their fans want the series to remain more "grounded", focusing on continental-based war with touches of futuristic technology or was it the "Halo"-esque scenes that were shown that sparked this?
>>
>>336982613
A. People have been against Call of Duty going to space and going super-futuristic because there are already so many other games that specialize in that.
B. COD4 remake, a game from a better time in the COD franchise that has no space or sci-fi shit, is being held hostage as a package deal.

people want COD4 Remake because it's actually a good game
people don't want halo cod

>>336982613

I forgot about the CoD4 thing. I wonder if they'll change their minds on the bundle and release them separately.

Although, another thing I don't understand is why everyone is clamoring for the Remaster when the original is still available and playable. A better move on the studio/publisher's part would be to enable backwards compatibility of CoD4 on current gen consoles and make it available on the consoles' online stores. They could still make their money and give their customers a decision.

Because I personally want it to be more like modern warfare 1 and 2. no bullshit. just add more weapons, more modes, a game that gets maps from all the series and just goes nuts with weekly tournaments for a special gun , free map pack, or emblem or something that you can show off to people in game .

A campaign with Coop and that mode in mw2 where you went through objectives to get stars, but with more players.

Just add guns, maps, on a single call of duty game , it's annoying as fuck they keep churning out 3 different call of dutys now and you keep having to buy mappacks that not many people buy anymore because everyone stays on the base game maps.

I think they officially started cresting around BOII, but the thing is, Activision easily makes up for it with Season Passes and Supply Drops.

>>
>>336984118
Yeah, I think EA's hired on a shilling company, both to push the new battlefield, and to attack competitors. They did the same thing with the witcher when it was upstaging Bioware's game.

Activision is likely to fight dirty back though, so I soon expect to see every forum everywhere filled with automated bots shitposting at each other about both games.

Get your popcorn ready.
>>
>>336984625
Yeah, it's weird

Like, I've never personally played call of duty myself, and I hated the shitty way they do anything in space because they're total dumbfucks who can't figure out basic laws of physics, but overall the trailer really didn't strike me as bad, just same old same old.

desu I don't think the dislikes are legitimate
>>
>>336982613
It's two things. One is that remake people have been bitching about for a while now since nobody want to remove the hacks from the multiplayer and starting fresh apparently is a better move. They did and the fact that you need the collector's edition to get it made people mad enough to do this. The second is that it is getting too sci-fi, some people already miss WW2, fuck maybe even modern shooters.

The only other explanation is everyone thinks its shit but they buy it anyway. >>
>>336986878
This to be honest family baka desu senpai.

The video is being mass disliked on by edgy teenagers who think they are crusaders saving gaming or by edgy teenagers who think it is funny because "lol xd ebic trolle"

People need to stop trying to fit in by hating on CoD. The game is the top selling game of the year, it makes no sense that a game that is hated so much always ends up being the top selling game if the year.

I don't like calling people liars, but most if you are fucking liars who hate on CoD to fit in.

If you trult hate CoD and want it to change then don't buy it, that is the only thing that will make Activison do sonething. Disliking a video on youtube isn't going to do jack shit.

Well, BF4 already does that to a degree.

They know that their audience are a bunch of braindead idiots who will have a kneejerk to the slightest change and went ahead with the new direction anyway.

Not only is CoD's audience beginning to tire of playing the same game, I'm will to bet that Treyarch/Infinity Ward is sick of making it.

Whatevs it's still slow shitty FPS for casuals, shouldn't affect anyone here.

>There aren't too many people going to the store and saying how much they hate limes and then buying a shit ton of limes.
>>
>>336987491
Do you honestly think people are disliking it because it's cool to hate on cod? I've been done with cos since mw3 was announced. From then I only ever played treyarch titles because I love the zombies game mode so much(it's literally one of the reasons I went to pc gaming). Cod has been the same shit again and again, I think people are actually tired. They need to have a new generation of cod... Except that's impossible because it wouldn't be cod anymore. That's what cod is, fast paced fps, if it changes anything beyond that it just wouldn't be cod anymore.

I also disliked the video, game genuinely looks cheesy and generic as fuck. I haven't enjoyed battlefield since 3 so I'm actually excited to see what the new release is out. As I watched the cod trailer I didn't get any excitement. I just muttered "oh they're finally doing space stuff". While I watched the battlefield trailer I couldn't stop smiling and jumping in my chair.
Anyway, people will buy cod again and again so it really doesn't matter. I just hope it had some sort of impact on how they develop their future games.
>>
>>336987175
>who gives a shit

i would tend to agree but over a million is still something. people are using the like/dislike system on YT to express their dissatisfaction. the uploader could've disabled likes/dislikes and forgone this entire thing like lots of other official channels do (nintendo did as well for a couple negatively-received trailers)

>>
>>336987491
people are not disliking the trailer becuese it's "the edgy thing to do anon" well it's not the number 1 reason why, the reason why is:

1: most players wanted boots on the ground, instead we got the complete polar fucking opposite of boots on the ground
2: you have to buy the 80$ version to get cod 4. remastered.

cod 4 remastered is fucking damage control by activision. becuese if they don't bundle it with IW, IW is going to sell terrible. then again the problem now is that activisions number 1 source of income yearly(Cod supply drops) are going to fall off massively in 2017. cod 4 is going to be played farr more than IW is, becuese for most of the normies cod 4 is a brand new game, they haven't ever played it.
>>
realistically, what is the % they will sell cod4 alone? id say like under 5%, unless IW is a TOTAL flop. like under a million sold flop, but thats not going to happen

I bet it would rise high again if they made one. In fact I bet they will. They are just waiting to pull the trigger on it.

It's their FF7.

>>

Blop2 really addressed a lot of my issues with COD linear campaign. You finally had a reason to reply missions what with different loadout, Secret area to the map and see how the story goes differently.

I even liked what they were trying with the strike force missions, even though they were awful but.

>>

I guess after doing Star Wars battlefront and knowing space warfare was coming they probably decided the futures 'been done'.

Feel free to ignore my opinion though, I actually liked hardline's single player.

if you are a suit buying their stock, maybe. As a player, he's full of shit and just spreading oil over the flames.

Maybe mobile but triple A's glory days are behind it.

You're not going to get more people willing to part $60 down for the same game year after year.

stagnation is irelevant when your demographic is 12 because every new game aim for a fresh new set of people. See also : dark soul, pokemon, mario.

If thats true why are the majority of comments begging for a return to "boots on the ground" contemporary warfare? Many of them are still going to buy this, just for the cod4 remaster, they just want the old tired shit they had when they were in high school instead of this new tired shit
>>

customers should always go first.

No, I definitely agree with you, but I just don't know if the folks complaining about the futuristic warfare are concerned about whatever potentials left in modern warfare. Shit, has Call of Duty's quality taken a hit like their sales have, ghosts aside? The last one I played was MW2 (and ghosts for like 5 minutes, whattashitshow)
>>
>>337006183
But it's actually a fun campaign that has some cool ideas and represents one of the best efforts to make choice and consequence work in a video game.
>>337006219
Most recent I've touched was Blops and that was a pretty impressive effort. Been meaning to torrent the others for a while now.
>>
>>337005983
Normally I'd say every 'classic' games can benefit from some updated graphics and polish rebalance gameplay granted by a remastering.

But I can't see them improving modern warfare 1, which isn't to say it's perfect just that I just can't see them being competent enough to actually improving in any significant way even with almost 10 years extra technology to work with.
>>
>>337006491
I installed it (from my HARD COPY HOLY SHIT) after the remaster was announced and it's very rough around the edges by modern standards. From a technical standpoint at least it could probably do with a new coat of paint. I was meaning the setting, myself. Between the three MW games we've had the invasion of not-Iran, covert operations in a Russian civil war, a full scale invasion of the United States, open fighting in European cities and getting rekt on the ISS because Price is an asshole. What else is there that would be interesting to an average audience?

CoD4 was the start of the downfall, sprinting in tight corridors with a laughable TTK and spawning elbows reach from other people. They also didn't have any obligations to remake it either.

Also, going to space is far better than keeping it modern with the same fucking weapons every shooter has been recycling since the WW2 fad died. Oh boy, China/Russia/Korea is attacking!
>>
>>336983619
Planetside, Doom, Quake, Borderlands, Red Faction

There's 5, with next to zero thought put into it.
>>
>>337006780
Well they'll wouldnt have to do a direct sequel. Or attempt to outdo the previous games.

Honestly if the next MW4 was just a self-contained story about soliders fighting rebels in not Ukraine with a Ukraine i'd be fine with it
>>
>>336983527
It is in HD though, it was PS3/360. Also, even if its remade its on "current" CoD engine aka still looks like shit. Just buy it on PC and its the same experience, with all the MP maps.
>>
>>337008956
Anon, the assets they're showing in the trailer are far higher quality than those in the original game. Also, I don't think it even ran in 720p on either platform.
>>
Why don't they just release the "HD" remake as a free game like a "gift" to all the wonderful support the fans have given them for the past 13 years?

Oh yeah, actiblizz
>>
>>336982853
>People have been against Call of Duty going to space and going super-futuristic because there are already so many other games that specialize in that.
Like what? At least now you will be able to tell a difference between it and Battlefield from a screenshot.
>>
The dislike campaign is an ebin meme and not a genuine show of displeasure.
>>
>>337009096
That would be an option if it was just a 1080p upgrade with slightly enhanced textures. Its not an option when they go through and redo all the assets entirely on their newer tech.
>>337009039
Still no point when its the same exact experience, the graphicfags should really kill themselves.
>>
>>336985909
>cartoon
>it's actually a comic strip
>>
>>337009114
If you can't tell the difference between any Battlefield ever released and any CoD ever released from a screenshot, you obviously don't play much of either.
>>
So I just watched the trailer.
Why is it so reviled?
The fact that the graphics aren't amazing?
>>
>>337009768
Its literally
>muh modern warfare
>>
>>337009768
I think it's because people would rather play CoD 4 remake (I think you have to preorder the new CoD to get it?) and a space themed CoD should have happened like 5 games ago

I mean people still play the shit out of CS and there has only been 4 games to CoD's 13
>>
>>337009483
Fun fact: Cartoons weren't always animated.
>>
>>336983393
I agree personally if they just continued to support Black Ops 3 I'd be happy. Keep adding new specialists guns and map packs in a "Season 2" and I'd be fine.
>>
>>336980643
Read the comments. The dislikes stopped being legitimate well before 625,000. People are just making multiple google accounts just to dislike because the internet is edgy like that.

Honestly, I think the trailer is pretty cool, though the choice of music is unfortunate (and was probably commissioned well before Bowie actually died).
>>
>>337009039
>>336983527

Better assets/textures does not mean necessarily mean HD you goof
>>
>>337012032
And it's not called 'Modern Warfare HD', it's called 'Modern Warfare Remastered'.

Just look at the comments

Literally says

>I just came here to dislike xD
>>
>>337000354
People left the CoD hate badwagon because they're no longer "unique" 15 year olds. Now a new generation of special snowflake teenagers are filling the void.

They're still retarded and just as bad as CoD fans for hyping an EA game though. Hell, they're worse. At least CoD added new mobility features, Battlefield will likely be the same but with a thin coat of WWI paint.
>>
>>336982613
People want to be able to to point an shoot an not have their targets run up the fucking walls an hover about! the futuristic settings in the current fps is bullshit an convoluted and is clearly not what the public want, personally i don't even think the mass dislikes are trolling i suspect more than three quarters are just sick of it and no shitty re release glued to a premium edition could possibly quench the disdain of that lmao! an only ten mp maps as well jesus fucking christ... roll on world war 1 on battlefield.

I haven't played CoD since 4 and I have no plans on that ever changing; but everyone at work I've talked to hated the last CoD so I'm not that surprised with all the dislikes.
>>
>>337014030
Why'd they hate it?

IIRC Some hated the campain and some hated the way multiplayer played.
These were folks who would buy every new CoD and talk about how much better it was than the last, so when they mentioned their hate of Advance Warfare I was a bit surprised.
>>
>>337014348
It's already the most preorded CoD in the franchise.

Dislikes mean literally nothing.
